Scooter has only been here a week, but all the lead-in gave me time to get information and supplies. I consider myself lucky she doesn't have neophobia, because she's willing to check out new things in her cage. This morning she met one of her new foraging toys.

You are lucky.
My Bella thinks anything new is going to try to eat her.
I can't get her to play with her toys. She bytes at some of the wooden ones but she mostly uses them to hide behind. One end of her cage is screened from view by all the hanging toys and I go along with it. When she is in her hiding place I pretend I can't see her.

That's wonderful.

Levi, is very unpredictable. For the most part he is accepting of new toys etc...
But, every so often he's a total neophobic .... :(
I see no rhyme or reason, nothing I can put my finger on. I wish I could, b/c than I could just avoid those things entirely.

She's an investigator, definitely. She's gotten comfortable enough with the house and the dogs and the other bird that now she wants to see everything. Last night she was on her perch stand in the living room, while I read and passed out Halloween candy. Every time the doorbell rang, or someone knocked, she was facing the door and wanting to see who was there - no fear at all.
She's started working out how to steer me, when I'm holding her. She just leans the direction she wants me to go, and grabs my thumb with her beak if I'm not following directions. From this I know she wants to look out the windows when we hit the top of the stairs. Maybe she likes the view? I know she wants to check out the backyard (once the winds die down, and there's not so much smoke in the air I'll allow it, but not until), and I know she wants to see what's beyond every doorway, behind every door, and in every closet.

I have never seen that head movement before.

I keep getting blown away by how completely fearless this bird is. I just took her upstairs with me, while I do my laundry. Boo used to do that, but he kept a distance between him and all the horrible, noisy appliances, especially the evil laundry cart. He wouldn't even go into the laundry room.
Scooter followed me in, checked out the washer. Climbed into the dryer. When I fished her out and loaded more clothes into it, and started it, she insisted she had to watch the clothes tumble, I think because it was clanking (jacket zipper against the dryer drum). Earlier this morning I brought her down in the family room, to let her explore. She was all over the kitchen and dining room before she'd consent to climb back up to my hand. She wants to see everything, and go everywhere.
