So according to the information I got at the time I bought Bella the reason for her plucking was the original owner's dog upset her.

Today When Bella was out of her cage all heck broke loose.
The cockatiels all tried to fly at once (inside the cages). Bella took off for the hills when the Tiels went crazy.
And there was all kind of barking in OUR backyard.

Two large dog's and one small dog got into our backyard apparently chasing after the feral cats.
My son had made it into the Tiels room in time to see one of the dog's …. well I don't want to go into details but one of the cats was killed.

To say that all this barking was upsetting to Bella is an understatement.
She seems ok now but I worry it might trigger more feather plucking.

I still don't know how 2 big dogs could get into my back yard. The gate was shut and no holes big enough for them to get through.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
How awful Wes! Do you recognize the dogs as belonging to neighbors or possibly strays? Might they have jumped the fence? Coyotes are capable of scaling 6 feet or more.

I wouldn't be surprised if sensitive Greys are subject to PTSD. Hopefully extra TLC for Bella will offset any urge to pluck.

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Out of interest, Enzo knows the phase 'its all right' as a calming, don't you worry girl everything is ok, thing. If she is on high alert or scared, had a fright whatever, I see her destress pretty much straight away, especially if the phrase is said whilst I rub her beak.

Might be worth saying similar and try and build the correlation with her?
