looking after another grey next weekend

Hi all,

Not sure if you remember but a month or two ago I spent a lot of time/effort looking for an escaped grey, Albert. We got him back thankfully.

Alberts parront is going away next weekend and she asked me to look after him, which ive agreed to. Ive moved my kitchen around to allow more space for his cage (massive aren't they!). Ill make sure neither are out at the same time and cover the cage of the bird remaining in. Is there anything else I should consider, or indeed, do I keep them separated in separate rooms?

Ive looked after my sons budgie a few times and Enzo never seemed bothered, of course she learned the budgies whistles in a few minutes, but a male and female grey in close proximity.... im not sure. I realise Enzo is very bonded with me so I don't think 'sexy time' would be something Enzo would be initiating, but a young male grey may have other ideas?

Or am I just over thinking things please?

Any tips, most welcome.

Id be more worried about invisible diseases transmitting (asymptomatic spread). They say 45 day quarantine when you get a new bird--- sitting seems similar IMO..Also could be very interested sexually. I'd keep them in separate rooms to be safe, but again, disease is my main thing (esp in 2 powder-down birds who can easily share things via airborne powder).

I'm paranoid because my uncles bird had ABV and PDD for years before anyone knew, and I know that some estimates on the higher end say that 40% of captive parrots in the US may carry it. It probably would be fine, but I just hate worrying about stuff like that.

Agreed, ill take the extra precaution of asking the owner to give Albert (love that old English name!) I good bath before bringing him too.

Enzo's previous owner had lots of parrots and all in the same room but separate large cages and only came out individually, she always giggled as Enzo paid little to no attention to the other parrots, especially her other CAG male who was always trying to catch her attention..... she's a DIVA lol!
