Fell in love with an african grey but......

Hi guys it started 2 weeks ago. I went to one of my local pet shops, they only have hand reared African greys there. There was this certain grey I fell in love with. people with experience say wait till the bird come to you, well!!!!! this particular one was a hand reared one and it took to me as much as i took to him/her the second time I went to the pet shop to pick up my cage and it was still there but this time she/he came up very close to me and started to kiss me and lick me and making a very funny noise like some sort of greeting purring noise never heard it before lol. I came out of that shop and ever since I had the grey on my mind. I really wanted it but money is a bit tight at the mo as they can cost up to £600 or more and I think to myself do i have the time to look after it!!! as greys can get very depressed when not socialize with anyone. So I had to think long and hard about this grey. It's so sad for me leaving him/her there

awww lorri wait for your cocktiel unles your thinking of getting the gray instead?? lol

it's heart breaking leaving him/her there aww well have to wait for my cockateil

Try not to feel too bad because it is possible they train the bird to do that so you will purchase.

i have been seriously thinking of takin on another parrot?? but i am not sure how nut will behave if that one takes a shine to phil as well, it'd kill me to keep them cage anymore then what is needed!

You know what Spiritbird I didn't think of that! thanks that has made me feel better and Suebee I wouldn't get a another bird cos, think it this way! I'm not expereince in the parrot family but I look at it this way. Parrots are like human beings when getting another member in the household. Nut will feel left out and knowing you are giving more attention to other bird and nut will get depressed over it. I will always have that fear. If you do decide to get another please think long and hard for nut's sack. Nut has been with you for a long time now! remember Nut is your number ONE in the bird world
