Happy for you. Love the greys!! What is the bird's story and name? Note to you - take measures to protect your lungs from 2 powder down birds.

Once my friend's amazon stayed in my house for days. I really cannot accept it's emotions. I am glad that I have 2 greys instead.

Protect your lungs? I don't get it. Could you please elaborate?

What they mean is that as soon as you get another bird the dust doubles and especially if you have bigger birds that the dust can be outrageous. So more vacuuming and you need to make sure they are getting their showed when they should. Also just to be on the safe side many people use air purifiers.

Greys and some other birds are what we call powder down birds. They give off feather dust. If there is no air cleaner or other means of protection it can harm lungs. It is called bird keeper lungs. It happens more in homes with multiple powder down birds and cages that are not kept clean. http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww59e.htm

Ok, but their dust isn't any more toxic or dangerous than normal dust is it?

Please elaborate some as I have an elder parent that I don't want to cause lung issues. [He used to raise cockatiels and parakeets (50 pair), so he loves birds and they made a mess in a separate building. That's since been shutdown many many years ago.]

Thanks in advance.

The feather dust can be harmful to lungs more than normal household dust. Please read the article. I only have one grey and I purchased the top of the line air cleaner called Rabbitair. People have had to give up their birds at time because of this. I do not mean to scare you but you should educate yourself. There are many articles in the net.
