Dunno, Elsie is like a hawk in the mornings, she is the other room to me but as soon as my feet touch that floor, i am given the dawn chorus!
to be honest, i dont think it would be that distuptive to the birds sleeping pattern, as i suppose just like us if some one else did that we would just roll over and sleep again! x

Whenever one of my birds either needed to be quarantined or separated from the rest of the flock for any reason, I've set up a small sleeping cage in my room. I move alot when I sleep and the bird never seems to lose any sleep. They do respond to light or if I get up, but just normal sleeping doesn't seem to bother them, if it does they haven't told me. :)

4 Cockatiels 2 males Chicken Little & Charlie, 2 Females Chiquita and Sweet pea. Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure -Franklin and our now tame, rescued feral Pigeon - Belle.
Our birds all live in our bedroom. We get up in the night to let the dog out, go to the bathroom, get a drink of water..what ever, and none of our birds have ever cared. They wake up in the morning when they're good and ready. Occasionally one might make a little "what's up" squeek, especially if we turn on the bathroom light, but then promptly go back to grind his/her beak and drift off to happy sleep.

And we do not cover our Cockatiels cages they didn't like it, but our Conure love's his cage covered at night.

You must be soo excited to get your first bird. I've barely been here and the waiting for you to get one is already killing me I don't know how you can hold out til August. :D

But then again...Good things come to those who wait. :)

Take Care,

Toni

-no parrots yet-
I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
Thanks for the info, Ive been wondering about that, a lot of people say birds need 8 to 10 (or 12) hours sleep, the sleep cage is going in my bedroom, I have an extra bedroom but my bird is going to be by my side every chance I get, I love my animals, I sleep with my cats, and when I had a dog, she slept on my bed too.

Nakiska omg its soo hard!! But I know its good for the bird because I go out a lot on the summer and maybe on a few short vacations so I want to bond with it before I leave it alone for times at a time.
