Jenday Conure
Hi my name is Cassidy and I have a year and a half year old jenday conure. We moved to WA state about a month and a half ago due to my husband getting stationed here. As of late he is becoming more territorial. If my husband hugs me or kisses me and Jamie(my bird) sees it has has a freak out. Today while handling him like I always do he gave me a wonderful gash in my finger. He is becoming more aggressive and territorial. Any ideas on how I can handle the situation? I dont want to get rid of him.:rainbow1:

Mine does the same thing, its hard to change it, you just have to be slow and show him that (husband) means you and bird no harm, if the bird starts to like your husband more then he wont mind the affection between you guys, also try and pet him while your husband is near you, try and have your husband pet him while you are there. Basically integrate your husband in the birds life and they will get along. Do it slowly, birds need space.

i use the same tactic on nut, the move may have him feelin a little un settled, and after seein your hubby, don't ask the bird to step up etc lol, let it get over it self 1st

if the bites are during random time throught day, watch its body language before askin for a step up etc

i like the laid back, please don't bite me... method as in the long run its worked for me, as when a birds bitten you, i think they feel bad for it, so that annoys them further, on the line of them thinking they only bit you cos you wasn't listening etc, rather like a stroppy teenager, and you know you can't reason with them creatures!!

avoid your bird if you think its being stroppy, it may take a while for him to get over whatever lol but they do, just as my nut has with me :)

keep us posted ;)
