Mac went for his first vet visit today, and passed with flying colors!!! We were told that he looks very healthy and has all the signs that our vet looks for in healthy GCC! :D He weighed in at a whopping 60g and was quite a handful for the Doc.

We are supposed ot continue the quarrientine perriod for another 3 weeks, but, they have been preening each other for the last 10 minutes while I have been typing this (and other) posts ... are Christy and I really bad people for not keeping up with the quarrientine? I know you guys have had your says about this in another thread, but seriously, reassure us here please!!

If he passed all the tests or whatever they did then i thinks it fine to introduce them. So no, your not bad people for introducing them to each early.

He passed all the tests with flying colours it seems cruel to keep them apart. :D

Another way to look at it, Would either you or Christy ever let Hamlet stay somewhere if you thought for a second the birds were not healthy and well cared for. A few years ago I would have been one of them that said "No Stick to the Quarantine" but after getting Kito from the same place as Bucc and as they use the same Vet as me, and they'd already met each other before I brought Kito home, it seemed pointless.

IMO you are doing the right thing for ALL concerned. :D What a great sign that they are preening each other already, they are gonna be great friends.

Here is the strange thing, and maybe you guys with two or more fids can put your input in here ... When Hamlet starts to preen Mac it is always around the eyes and nares area and he licks more than preen ... is this normal? I am not quite sure on that ... any input would be great!

Well my knowledge of conures is not from experience but only from books and hearing what others say about theirs so don't know how much this is gonna help, I've not heard of this before, but then books don't write this kinda stuff in them do they. With Bucc and Kito I've not known them to lick each other, I've seen them preen each other but have not really been that close that I could see if they were licking or not, I'll be watching more closely from now on.

I guess it could be kinda like when they lick us, I know Bucc and Kito do this a lot when they are sitting on my shoulder, Kito tends to do this a lot more when we are in the shower. Bucc doesn't get that close (just incase the water should happen to get him) but when I get out of the shower then he's all over me, they also do it of an evening when we are having bed time cuddles. I'll keep my eye on them and let ya know if they do lick each other.
