Kaleb second day with new family :)

Hello my name is christi and my boyfriend Ostmar love our baby Kaleb, he is a green cheek conure. So far he is settling in well, we have had him for two days. But so far he only has an interest in looking out the window, and gets excited every time we open the blinds. He doesn't really have any interest in us yet, still trying to get him comfortable with us. So far he eats food out our hands but if we put our hand in the cage with no food on it, he doesnt come to us. We have figured out that he loves apples and kiwi and toast. any helpful hints how to get him to want to come to us without food? or more interested in us than the window?

First, off congradulations on your Green Cheek, they are loads of fun. You don't want to rush him. DON"T REACH INTO HIS CAGE, most birds are cage aggressive or at the very least don't like that. Open his cahe door and let him come out on his own.

Try pulling up a chair next to his cage and talk, read and sing to him. Let him get used to you, being around you and seeing you. Can you pick him up? How old is your Conure and where did you get him from a pet shop, breeder? Also was he hand fed and touted to be hand tame from the people you goit him from?

we can pick him up but usually when we try to hold him to tries to fly away but his wings are clipped. he is 3 months old we got him from a bird store, it was called bird lovers paradise. The manager of the shop said he was friendly, and Kaleb is friendly, but just doesn't really wanna come around us. Today he climbed out of his cage twice on his own, so we feel like we are slowly making progress.
