Shopping for a cage for my new GCC

Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced cage?

I'm currently thinking of getting this one: BIRDCAGES4LESS.com: Lahaina Lanai™ Playtop

It's a big decision and I'd love any advice from experienced owners. I'm getting my new 3 mo. old GCC in 9 days!

Re: Shopping for a cage for my new GCC

That cage looks pretty good and is appropriately sized for a GCC. The only minor issue I have is that it only has 2 feed doors. Three is better (one for water, one for pellets, one for fresh fruit and vegetables).

I'm sure you could work around that by attaching a plastic feed bowl to the bars for fruits and veggies, or using one of the play top bowls for the produce and alternating it with the pellet bowl. Or you could feed your bird the fruits and veggies on the playtop.

I am a GCC breeder and I absolutely recommend this cage to ALL my parents....
A&E Cage Co. Powder Coated Wrought Iron Cage | CSN Stores

It is a great size and a wonderful price! And A&E cages are a good quality cage...I own it and love it!

This cage is really really nice and cheap!
Amazon.com: New Large Play Top Bird Cage Parttot Finch Macaw Cockatoo Birdcages: Kitchen & Dining Amazon.com: New Large Play Top Bird Cage Parttot Finch Macaw Cockatoo Birdcages: Kitchen & Dining
Bar spacing is 3/4 but thats okay for a GCC, my GCC will live in 3/4 bars.

Re: Shopping for a cage for my new GCC

Echo -

I have a question about the A&E cage. I was wondering about the bars being mostly vertical. I read in a conure book that there should be more horizontal bars for climbing, so I have been ruling out cages of this style. Is that wrong?

Thanks for your help!
