Hello, I am getting a green cheek conure this tuesday.... any advice? like starter food? what not to do? What to do? all advice will be appreciated. Thanks so much
GCC's can be very testy. My advice is to spend plenty of time with your new bird and make sure to be persistent no matter how nippy he may become! They are amazing little birds with a lot of heart. As for food, pellet, seed, fresh fruits, fresh veggies, millet, pretty much the same sort of things.
1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
iolany aviary is right. my friends have two and they are happy and let out of the cage but she tells me they are very nippy. they are not a pair, they just keep each other company. but they are wonderful companions if socialized, and you dont let them boss you around by biting. you have to set boundries and inforce them, be firm yet gentle and dont react to the bites. if you get bit you can have him step up on your hand, then step to the next hand and step up to the next hand a few times. this is called laddering and it teaches that you are in controll and biting gets him no where. good luck and congrats on your new fid !
