Hi

I've been wanting a conure for a while now and finally have managed to find some young handraised babies for sale. They are sun conures and whilst I love their nature I'm a bit apphrehensive of the noise. The breeder has since told me he has some peach fronted conures about to hatch, does anyone know much about these? We already have Jimmy, who is a gorgeous bit of a grump who loves routine and being part of the action and generally fits well in our household. We also have 3 mini schnauzers who like to indulge in a howling session if no one at home to catch them out (imagine a sun learning that!!!:11:) and two noisy small boys. So whilst noise is pretty much standard here our house is very open plan where the birds cage would be and I do have a hubby who is not as nearly as tolerant as me so am leaning towards the peach but then are they as cheeky and funny and fun seeking as the sun seem to be. Oh the dilemma................. any one have any recommendations?

I am not to familiar conures (only green cheeks), but all I can tell you is suns are a lot louder than peach fronted!

I have a sun conure and yes he can get loud but i can already hear the differance that age does with them. Mine is getting quieter the older he gets. He is still a big clown and loves to snuggle but at night before dark he is loud. I had a peach front he bonded to my hubby first night. But he works out of town all week and is in on weekends. He didn't have time for him but maybe a hour every three weeks. I tryed hard to bond with him but always ended up bleeding even just feeding him. He got louder than my sun did and screamed a lot more than the sun did. The sun would tell him to be quiet all the time. It was so cutie. I finally rehomed him after a year because everyone in the house couldn't stand how much noise he made and the biting all the time. I found a home that a man would be home with him all the time. I have stayed in touch and he loves his new owner but has never stopped the loud screaming. And just to be truthful he made my cockatoo seem quiet. That has been the only time i have been around the peach front and every bird is different. I think you would be much better off getting a bird that has been weaned that way everyone in the home can handle it. Both birds are great but both can get loud. Just keep in mind that they are birds and making noise is part of them. Have you looked at the green cheek i hear they are one of the quietest conures you can get. Hope this helps
