Green Cheek Conures
Turquoise: Loquito (Little crazy) aka Loqui.
Cinnamon: Lila
(Dunno if this should be in conures, or questions & Answers??? But here goes)
I've sent my payment to the breeders & as soon as they receive it they're gonna set up a flight & I'm gonna go pick up my baby <3
I can't wait. It'll probably be a week or two (hopefully less) and I can finally stop staring at this empty bird cage in my room!!
Can anyone tell me what to do and what not to do in his first hours-days with me? Should I leave him alone? Handle him? Or should this all be up to him??
Also, how do you go about finding a good avian vet??
I called this animal hospital that opened up recently just around the corner from my house & asked if the vet knew anything about small parrots & they said that the doctor would see him, but that he usually doesn't do birds, so that leads me to think that maybe they really don't know much about birds there, but for their grand opening they are offering a free courtesy examination, would it hurt to let that vet check him out since it'll be free or should I not even go for it?
I still need to find an actual avian vet tho and especially one that can be on call in case of an emergency. Should I go for places that specify "small animal & BIRD" or "exotic veterinary hospital" in their names?
& How likely is it that my bird pick up an infection or something while at this avian vet??? I don't know much about the diseases they can get but I know a bunch of them are air born & can stay that way and I know taking your bird around other birds is dangerous because of this. Isn't it as equally dangerous taking him to a place not only where there are other birds but other possibly SICK birds??
I'm pretty sure I'm naming him Silas btw.
