Hi everyone,
Can a sun conure and Tiel stay together in a cage?
They have been together since they were 21 and 10 days old, respectively.

At the moment they're just a bit over 1 month old.
When I try to keep one away from the other, they search frantically.. so I never go on with separating them yet at this age.

I got told that by my breeder recently, when I asked about keeping a Grey and Senegal together. So, as they've been raised together, they should almost 'accept' each other as family.

My /only/ concern would be, if your conure got a bit too pushy with his beak on the cockatiel. But then again, I think they're much much less likely to 'attack' either other as they've been raised together, it'd be playful feather pulling type play.

Ho hum, for now, I think they'll be fine, when older, perhaps two cages next to each other if you're not 100% confident they won't harm each other. :)

I have seen many birds raised together stay together their whole lives. I have seen a sun and a green wing macaw that had been in the same cage for over 20 years. Both bird loved each other very much and had never hurt the other. Just yesturday i saw a ad for a sun and love bird that had shared a cage for 5 years for sell. The owner wanted them to stay together. I am sure you babies will grow up and be best friends. To them they will be clutch mates and enjoy the life long playmate

I was wondering about when they reach sexual maturity, but I guess it won't be a problem in the near future. My main concern was actually the conure's beak being much stronger than the tiel's.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I will keep them together at this time and then monitor their behavior as they get a bit older.

They are just too cute! I hope it works out and they can stay together even into adulthood.
