Okay, Theres a breeder that has GCC's, and they are four months old. he says they were handfed but got a little wild. I figure they are pretty young to get tame eventually, can someone describe a bit wild? What should I do. On a same but seperate topic what does make a good breeder? Are there health guarantees. I ask that and he said there is a health guarantee, and I can bring them back at anytime, BUT he didn't say how long the healt guarantee is for, nor if I would get my money back, which I doubt. I figured, I'd ask more detailed questions about that when absolutely ready to purchase.. Thank ya!

I think I would ask all the questions you can think of, and check with a few breeders. Make sure you feel comfortable with the answers you get.

Handfed but got a little wild? That's a sorry excuse! That mean they weren't being socialized after weaning. That's a problem with breeders that have too many babies or just in it for profit! You need to personally check the babies and see exactly what he mean by a bit wild. Otherwise I would probably go to a different breeder!

I think this means the bird was pulled from the nest at 2-3 weeks, then crop fed until weaning, and after that left to its own devices... I know a breeder who does that, and advertise the birds as being hand raised.

A breeder of lots of birds rarely have time to spend with them, and crop feeding the the quickest way to get the job done, and the birds being somewhat used to human hands.

Well I'm in NYC, does anyone know of any NYC breeders? I googled and it always seem as if these breeders live upstate and not in the city. The breeder I found with the "wild" birds are local. I assume they are still young to tame, but correct me if I'm wrong. I will definitely ask him about the wild thing, but like someone said I have a feeling after weening, they were left to their own demise. I will try harder to see if I find more breeders.

I most likely will be buying my bird from a breeder, what am I too expect from them? I am sure I am suppose to get paperwork, but what else? Do all breeders give warranty, and if they do how long?
