MY Green Cheek Hates my Iphone

He goes into attack mode does anyone have this problem?

Oh yeah, mine hates cell phones (and cameras and whatnot).

Yes, Merlin hates my phone. I made the mistake of letting him listen to 'Merlin' videos & ever since he pushs it to the floor at every opportunity.

Auggie viciously attacks any small electronics he sees.

If it lights up and makes noises it is Tootsie's mortal enemy. The only thing that she hates more are rattling pill bottles. Those will set her off every time.

Mine really likes the phone.... just recently found out flashlights put her on the defensive!

Mine just wants to nibble it to death like any toy in her cage.

She's really funny with a rubiks cubes, she can't seem to figure out how to bite it, hehe!

Not a conure owner but a black headed caique owner... thought id reply anyway just to say my bird HATES cd's .... scared of them big time any look any colour....

Gets proper angry with anyone after they have had one in their hand!

My CAG despises my phone so much that if I come near her while using it, she will bite me, not the phone.

She's a lovable little fuzzball the rest of the time. If I put the TV remote by her, she tries to get a head scratch from it. Somehow the phone is different.

Mine loves my phone! lol. When I had first got her I would sit near the cage just messing around on my phone, texting or whatever & it made her curious about it, she'd look at me lik "wuts dat?" & now whenever I'm hangin out with her & I'm on my phone she wants to come & touch the screen with her tongue and chew it up lol.

Oh my goodness... I can relate so well haha. My 2 caiques have always lunged toward my iphone, but we gently discourage them from doing so. They have gotten pretty good from staying away from it.

My Ipad, though? Nothing will discourage them from my Ipad... but they don't attack. They just try to lick it, and since the Ipad's screen is sensitive to any energy/warm touch, they actually press the keys on it. They sit and do their caique growl while licking the entire screen up, down, right, and left. haha, its kind of cute. I've contemplated getting like a colors app and seeing if they could learn from it like my 1 yr old brother does... wouldn't that be neat?

my conure was indifferent to the actual phone but would mock my talking with his own garbled laguage, my hahn's is more interested in chewing it.

My conure is like that too when he sees me playing with my phone, for some reason he puffs himself into an angry ball and attacks my hand and doesnt stop chasing it , i can tell he is veryy angry and i get scared so i throw him off and stop caring for him , i give him a time out and dont pay attention to him no matter what he does . I dont know if me doing that would make things even worse rather than teaching him anything. Do you have any advice or experiencees you could tell me that would be helpfull??

Bird body language is entirely different from mammal body language. A cat or maybe a dog with hair sticking up all over, is angry.

BUT

A bird that is all-Puffed-Up -- if it is not sick or cold, it is HAPPY and RELAXED. He is Not angry. He is happy and playing.

Please do Not be scared of your bird or try to discipline it for being Puffed Up. In fact you want to do the opposite. This is a good time to interact with your bird (gently).

PUFFED UP = relaxed, happy, playful. NOT in a condition to immediately fly away.

Slick & smooth = "might be danger, be READY TO FLY AWAY" = tense, scared, unhappy.

If you keep this in mind, you will have a really-much-better relationship with your bird. When your bird is fluffed, it is time for you to Relax with the bird.

IF you don't want your bird to "attack" your phone when you are using it, offer something else. Bird sees You Playing with object, wants to Join In. So, keep other distractibles handy. Pieces of paper for birdie to attack, an old phone in other hand, glasses, other electronics, etc.

Remeber what is happening, is that Birdie sees YOU Playing with Phone and Wants to Play Also. Puffed-up birdie is happy and loves you and wants to play.

Parrots are extremely visual and will react to images or video on the screen. For many, it is a game or positive experience. Have you taken pics or short movie of your bird, perhaps even selfie with yourself? Try making the phone a positive experience, reward good behavior with a treat.
