Female Dusky Conure (Kayak) Female Sun Conure (Carlisle) Female Budgie (Meister) Male Budgie (Spooky Burd)
Tonight I locked the cats in the bathroom and brought my Dusky and Sun out to the family room and sat on the couch watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with my mother. The birds and I shared some apple sauce and hung out for awhile. I wish all nights could be calm like this. They were both so well behaved and got along. Carlisle even went and sat with my mom for awhile and got his head scratched. Normally I end up with them screaming at each other and in my ear.

Are there any things you guys enjoy doing with your feathered friends?

I have 5 dogs (primarily indoor) (2 big, 3 little) and 2 indoor/outdoor cats so most of my time with Opi & Keen is spent together in my office during the day with the door closed while I work (I work from home). They hang out, walk around, we snuggle etc. We watch TV, work on the computer, etc. In the evenings & on weekends I wheel their cages out to the living room where the family is and they hang out with everyone. Occasionally if I can round up all the fur-kids I lock'em up in my bedroom and I let the birds out to sit on the couch with me while I watch TV. I normally do this with Opi though, I'm still not too confident in Keen's willingness to come back when asked; she's still learning.

I like go give Puck a snack on the table next to me while I do my computer stuff. He'll often just sit there and chew on his food without eating it once he's full, lol. I took him to a pumpkin carving party and he chewed on pumpkin guts for hours but didn't eat any (his crop didn't look full), and he was hungry when he got home!

Puck reeeaaallllyyy likes going outside, so when I have time and energy I take him to the park. There's one park with a bunch of lavender bushes, so I'll put him in the bushes and he'll chew up the flowers! Sooo cute!

African Grey named Buddy and Marty
re-homed from rescues both are about 5 years old.
In the morning it's breakfast then I let the fids walk about as they like ( family-room is fid proof). In the afternoons the fids and I sit out on the porch swing as I read we do this for about an hour and a half per day after dinner I let them out and on the sofa as we watch TV ( the dogs are out with us at this time but not on the sofa). Then lights off and to bed.

Moche the Quaker Parrot and Charlie the African Grey
In the morning when I wake up, I usually take Moche out and we cuddle a little and play peekaboo on the bed. He's always the most lovey dovey in the morning. Sometimes he'll take a shower with me before I go in to work (Man, this could be a little TMI if read out of context :09:).

When I get home we'll let the dog outside or put up some baby gates and let Moche out. In the evenings he prefers exploring on his playstand and the top of his cage more than being cuddly. He'll sit on his stand and chatter away all evening while we eat dinner and relax.

My friend Mia has parrots. She packs up her lovebird, sun conure, and indian ringneck parakeet and drives them over to my house. We put all of the birds (my 4 and her 3) on my kitchen counter. I have a birdie jungle gym, bird toys, pie pans with seed and millet for the birds to snack on, and a pie pan full of water for bird baths. We drink a glass of champagne and talk while watching all of our birds interact with each other. I love bird parties!!!

I usually sit in the recliner next to our radio. I get Pearl out every night and it's just me and her sitting there listening to Christmas music. Everybody's out of the room, animals locked up etc. I usually scratch her head for about 25 minutes.

I love reading all of this! I totally wish I could have bird parties. My best friend and her cockatiel and caique moved to Arizona a few months ago :'( I miss her and her birdies. They were very well behaved and made my guys look like a bunch of hooligans.

I normally spend most of my time reading or writing papers with my guys out and sitting with me, but always in my bedroom. I'd love to allow them in the rest of the house but it's not very bird friendly. Occasionally they come in the bathroom with me and join me for a shower. When I watch a movie with my dad I'll bring Kayak out because she's the quietest and won't yell at the tv the entire time (Carlisle loves "watching" tv which is more so him screaming at it) my father isnt a bird fan like most of his side of the family. He's afraid of them so he gets nervous when they're out. He's even scared of the parakeets. *sigh* I love my birds and am very glad the bird phobia skipped me. (my brother is deathly afraid of them like my dad)

Max is out for a couple of hours 3 times a day, when I'm not working and twice, when I am working... His minimum time out of cage is 4 hour per day...

In the morning, when I check my email and other computer stuff... If I'm not working or working nights, I wheel his cage into the lounge room as soon as I finished on the computer, and after lunch I sit down to watch TV, and he comes out then for a couple of hours... This is also the time, when I prepare their food, so he flies into the kitchen and 'help' with the food prep... Mostly as a taster (must make sure it's suitable for the other birds)...

Max will normally stay on my recliner and climb all over me..., He'll go and play with my shoe laces, he'll go to my tea trolley, which at this time is set up with toys for him, and he'll always try to preen my face... Why do they have such a fascination with our faces? Maybe because that's where our eyes are?

In the afternoon, I again go on the computer, and he comes out again, and stays out till I cook dinner..

I either send Ben, my dog, outside or to his crate, when Max is out... I normally let Ben decide what he wants to do... He mostly chooses his crate in my bedroom.
