I've had Con for about 4 weeks now and tomorrow we have his third vet appointment. The first one was a check up, the second was an outpatient weigh in and tomorrow he will be going in because of his coughing and sneezing. The vet said they will have to swab his throat. I'm worried he's sicker than he acts and am terrified about tomorrow.

Never thought I'd ask this but pray this is just a cold and he can get over it. I don't want to lose my baby just after I've fallen so hard for him. Thank you

I'll be thinking of you both and wishing for the best. I've recently had quite a scare with my cat. She was vomiting for 1.5 weeks and even after 2 vet appointments we didn't know what was wrong with her. As of right now it seems to be her food (intolerance or something is wrong with it). I just had a strong feeling that was the problem even though the vet didn't think so and switched it anyway. She has been back to normal for 2 days now and so I'm hopeful.

Try to remain positive and realize they have medications for birds. Most illnesses and diseases ARE treatable if they are caught in time. If he does need medications and you have a hard time getting him to take them from a syringe, letting them dry on half a Nutriberry works well. What I did as well was to remove all her pellets and give her just the Nutriberries to ensure she ate the whole thing.

My OWA has been sneezing off & on. I think it's from the dry heat from running the heater. He seems better in a different room where I put a pot of water on the plug in heater so the air is moister. Good luck at the vet & let us all know how it went.

Back from the Vet. Con has a cold and I feel silly for over reacting. He's on antibiotics and gonna be alright. At the moment, he's sitting on his roosting perch doing some preening before a nap. It's like the trauma from the vet never happened for him while I need to go get my blood pressure checked from all my stressing lol Gotta love that little bird :)

Don't feel silly! Maybe all our prayers worked! And a cold could have easily turned into something worse if you hadn't been keeping a close eye!

You didn't overreact. The vet put him on anti biotics because he needed them. I'm very happy to hear of a positive outcome:)

Any time a bird has a nasal discharge it needs vet attention. You did exactly what you were supposed to do.

Maybe they did, everdusk :) Now I just have to get him use to the syringe. He got most of the medicine on me and my jacket while at the vet then he pooped on me because he was scared. The vet tech gave me the weirdest look when I just shrugged and said "**** happens" while cleaning it up. Having Con makes me think I would have made a good "real" mom. He's brought out all these loving, nurturing feelings in me.
