Do you ever think your parrot would LOVE to just hang out with other parrots? Yesterday I was watching the video that came with Sprite's harness. He was putting the harness on the macaw and the macaw was squawking and he started going crazy! He made his way from the couch to the TV and he was hanging off the side of the TV, squawking and trying to find the bird. I think he'd LOVE to hang out with other birds...do you ever think this??

Yes. I found a video on Youtube that drives Con wild. She screams and flutters and head-bobs and runs around my laptop trying to find the birds.

Even in a multi bird household, mine all like videos on the computer, and birds on TV as well. Pete tried to climb into the TV to see a bunch of ring necked parakeets once, lol!

Maxx & Emma -Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conures (Male & Female)
I am a one bird owner and I too have thought about getting another. I like the time I have with Maxx and don't know if I want to share it. I also don't have the room for another cage, so the cons outweigh the positives. Maxx has a Huge cage, tons of toys, lots of great food, and treats, and my undivided attention. I think one is enough for me.

I have the same dilemma. My house is too small for another cage and I question whether I really have the time for another bird. I would love another one though. For now I will love Pyro and dream of the day I can have an addition to the flock. I would love a Solomon island ectectus, but I'm not sure whether I want a male or a female. One day.....

Blue Crown Conures: Tootsie and Rosco.
Senegal Parrot: Sidney.

Feathers of the past:
Budgies: Sunshine, Digit, Kiwi, and Yahto.
Senegal Parrot: Kelly.
"Fly free, little ones. Love and miss you."
The thing you have to keep in mind if you add another bird, especially if the two of them are friendly and interact with each other, is that your relationship with your bird is very likely to change. My Tootsie was with me for 13 years as a single bird before I decided to get her a companion. As luck would have it another blue crown from a local bird rescue. Tootsie went from not being interested in Rosa to gradually welcoming contact to no longer wanting much contact from me at all. I can't take her to my recliner and snuggle like we did every day because she will get anxious and fly off before I even sit down. Of course, Rosa jealously squawking does not help any and probably fuels Tootsie's desire to go back.

That being said and regardless of the bit of sadness I feel at losing that closeness, I do not regret it one bit. She gained a lot from her relationship with Rosa. And with that it opened up the possibility for another bird. Thus, enter Sidney. Another rescue who captured me unexpectedly. I was not looking but it just happened when I saw him as an adoptable in the bird store. He is too full of energy, curiosity and stubbornness to snuggle much but he is a heck of a lot of fun.

It might be nice to have a break once in awhile though.I mean I love cuddling with my GCC but she can be overbearing at times.Basically I cant do anything without her involvement, she pulls the keys off my computer, she chews my magazines and books when I try to read, she has to get in my plate when I eat.She pulls my glasses off, she hates me talking on the phone too.Even when I do the dishes she gets on me and starts flipping her wings because she wants me to stop and hold my hands under the faucet so she can bath .LOL, if she had a friend Id either have two harrassing me or they would go off together and play and let me do a few things in peace...:D

Lol, Doris, you need a play gym that can wheel around with you.

I have to talk on the phone in another room if it's an important call.

I have a house full of animals. My dog who goes back and forth between my husband and me, my cats have since moved outside, disgusted with me by too many kids, so I promise it was their choice, and they have it made out there with my swing & the fort to sleep in, my gliders who I love on at night since they are nocturnal and I'm a night owl, and my HUSBAND's bird. This bird was supposed to be my bird, but she claimed him from day 1. She tolerates me, and only luvs me when I mist her. This is why I decided to get a bird for me this year. One I can love on all day since I am mostly a stay at home mom (except for 3 evenings a week when I work from either 6-10 or 4-10.) So technically when I finally bring my baby home, she will be MY only bird. I have a big living room with 3 big cages so I am at capacity. Hmmm... makes me wonder if I should add Bogey to my list of boy names, lol, since John says I'm one over par.

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
I, like you Atwee921, wanted to bring in a friend for mi Amigo. Never happened because of health issues with my dad, but so thankful that I am available to help him. Before I got the call from dad, I was having a bit of anxiety about whether or not these two birds would get along, (umbrella cockatoo and a macaw). I would hate to see one of them get hurt.

Amigo can be possessive and territorial, when the mood strikes, but he loves to look at himself in a mirror. I have a 'toy' box in the bathroom with old bead necklaces, shiny earrings, metal nail files, old tooth brushes, etc. that he has a lot of fun with, sharing with his self, in the mirror.

I bought a Bird Sitter Dvd at Petsmart. My bird loves to watch it. I usually put in on for her before I go to work. One day my husband came home and went to check on her. She was taking a bath along with the birds on the video.
