So I adopted my GCC a few weeks ago, he is 3 years old they tell me. They gave me the food he has been on and it was all seeds and after reading a lot I knew I had to change him to pellets. Well I am slowly changing him but I don't think he is crazy about them, he picks all the seeds out to eat. I am also giving him some fruits and vegetables, and bought a diet I make with pastas and beans in it, he didn't go near that one. So my question is should I just keep giving him the foods he isn't eating and hope eventually he eats it, sometimes I can feed him a pellet and he will take it from me. Do I do tough love and only put pellets in his food dish? Any advice would be great, he is a sweetie pie I just want him healthy as well, thank you

I would do it gradually. Each day less seed and more pellets. You have already seen him eat a pellet so he will start eating more of them as he gets less seed. Spend 10 days or more on your conversion.

As for other foods yes, keep offering them. Sometimes it takes a bird a long time to try something new.

Green Cheeks are usually little eating machines.

Seeds are fine for parrots to have in their diet it's moderation. A level tablespoon of good quality small parrot seed is benefical along with equal amount of a quality pellet. It is best to only leave this mix in the cage for about 30 minutes then take it out, replace it back in the cage for another 30 minutes in the afternoon, take it out again till morning. However this is where the fruit & veggies, sprouted seed mix & raw nuts come into the diet. For the rest of the day offer a plate with a variety of fresh fruit, veg chopped into little cubes & sprouts, chopped raw nuts, just a sprinkle. Make it look as colorful as possible.

My GCC's eat corn, peas, celery.apple, orange, passionfruit, pawpaw, beans, hot peppers that's just to name a few, you just have to be persistent.
