How long does it take for a tail to grow back? Last week my poor baby was snuggling and her tail was caught when she tried flying away. I felt horrible. Needless to say she's a tailless wonder. She's fly just fine and compensates with no issues but I sure would like to see her tail come back.

Any ideas?

She will be a year on the April 15th and has only molted once. I'm sure shes do for another molt real soon. I've already caught a few pin feathers so that's probably a good indicator.

Poor thing, I wanted to cry.

My Sun Conure is really hard on her tail. She plays too rough and catches it quite often and looses alot of her tail feathers. They have always grown back. Usually just long enough for her to mess them up again. But she now has a beautiful tail, and I am hoping she has learned her lesson and to be a little more careful. So don't worry, it will grow back.

Scotty if the feathers came out shaft & all, your baby will grow a new tail in just 6 weeks. If there are still some stumps left behind you will have to wait until she drops them naturally.
