Hi my Cinnamon Green Cheek conure just came to college with me and I feel she is going to get lonely. At home we have 3 dogs she would listen to all day. So I was thinking of possibly getting her a new friend. Of course the other bird would be in a seperate cage at first. I just wanted to know what kind of bird she could get along with. Would a parakeet be a good possible friend? Thanks :greenyellow:

I don't think a parakeet would be a good choice if you plan an caging them together. If they are always going to be caged seperately and watched when outside their cages it could work. I am thinking of getting parakeets but not for a companion for my conure just because i like them.

I wouldnt get a parakeet because they have such small beaks they couldn't possibly deffened themselfs against a gcc. Why don't you just get another gcc, mabey a different mutation. Conures are an aggressive species so I wouldn't get anything smaller or larger. I wouldn't house any other species with a conure. I think your best bet would be another gcc or another type like maroon bellied or crimson bellied, but I would get the same gender so you wont get hybrid babies. And even then it is best to just keep them in separate cages just in case.

Then what would you guys recommend to keep her mostly calm and quiet. I dont want my roommates or neighbors to get mad at her screaming. Thanks
