Anyway we pruchased a cage saturday and whilst there i fell in love with the last remaining hand reared green cheek conure whom was 17 weeks old i am told its a she but not sure, what i wanted to know is will a Hahns macaw and a green cheeked conure be able to live together? anyone ever done this? or am i being silly we havent to room for two cages really and sort of regretting it now but i just fell in love! but my heart is set on the Hahns heart over head as per usual ha ha

Short answer is no. I speak from experience, big beaks and little beaks should not be together. Most, if not all conures, have no fear. Conure will go after the Macaw and may get injured. I tried it with a GCC and African Grey. Little guy had to be rehomed as he received two serious head injuries.

They may like each other as conures and macaws are pretty closely related, but the simple fact of the matter is you won't know until you have them both. I've seen macaws establish close friendships with all kinds of birds. But, until you do know they would have to have separate cages, and of course they may never like each other. So if you want them both, you really should have separate living arrangements for them. It's never a good idea to just put 2 birds into the same cage unless you already know they get along.

The Hahn's is at least a small macaw, about Sun conure sized, but both Hahn's and GCCs are known for nippiness and potential aggressiveness.
