I want to get a feel of how your conures, or parrots in general get along with your other pets.

I just got a baby GC, after the initial, "OMG what is that delicious looking feathered thing", Sasha my lab just adores it.

She is very respectful of the baby and wants to be included in every feeding. She sits right by me and enjoys watching the entire procedure.

Ive had cockatiels as well and my dog would lay on my bed and sleep for hours with my cockatiel. She is very gentle and knows the "leave it" command very well.

How are your dogs and cat? Bunnies or any other animals doing with your pet birds?

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
My bird backs ALL animals away. Doesn't jump them, just lets them know-don't mess with me. And he is respected, by all, for this. The dogs intimidate the cats, the cats scare off the nesting birds on the deck.

Amigo hates the woodpeckers in the area! Not quite a pet relationship but a relationship none the less.

Loki (GCC) Sugar (Goffins)
Onyx, my Boston Terrier, is mostly scared of Loki. Loki can be a rather mean sonova when he wants to be and has attempted more than once to take a chunk out of poor, sweet, hyper, inquisitive Onyx. Occasionally I can get them to occupy the same space, but I'm usually on guard the entire time. They mostly just leave each other be.

I'll be interested to see how Sugar and Onyx, as well as Sugar and Loki, get along once she's home.

Max and my Great Dane X, Ben, seems to get along well... Ben is 4 years old, and I've only had Max for 7 months... It's only over the last week or so that I have both of them in the same room... In the beginning it was only for a couple of minutes, and over the 7 months I have increased the time, depending on Ben's behaviour... If he went for Max, he went outside or in his crate... So.. Ben has learned to lie quietly on his $2000 leather couch, while Max is out...

Max will often go onto the sofa table to get closer to Ben, and Ben will stretch his head out, so they're less than a foot apart...

Ben will sometimes come up, if Max is sitting on my leg and just have a sniff.. Max will research Ben's nose, and that apparently tickles....

I would never leave them unsupervised.

Well, all 3 of my birds like the cat, although for different reasons. Pete tries to engage the cat in "terrorize" at all opportunities. If it weren't for my small bar spacing on the cage, those 2 would have injured each other by now (for fun, mind you, but it sure isn't fun for me to see). Merlin always kisses the cat. Rowdy alternates between being affectionate with the cat and also playing terrorize.

However, the 3 birds are not getting along as well with each other as they are with kitty;)

My GCC hates my other pets, she will sit on my lap and bite and bite my big fluffy cat(I do tell her no and push her away but Im just saying she has done this). My cat just sits there and could care less unless she gets her ear then she runs off.Seriously I have to watch her like a hawk because she has bitten my poor chihuahua on the tail and my chi baby thought it was me.
I have 6 dogs and 3 cats.I only have to watch two of the dogs around small animals and thats the 2 italian greyhounds, they can be snappy if little things move fast around them.
Usually I am sitting in my recliner with a cat, two dogs and the GCC all hanging on me.

I want someone to take a picture of you, Doris. That sounds so cute. Mine are all so jealous of each other, it's always one at a time. Pete wants very much to make friends with the other 2 birds, and both have attacked him.

Chico (cockatiel) and Dakota (Shepherd/lab/something bigger) have a good relationship. Chico can sit on Dakota and Dakota leaves him alone. Our German Shepherd, Ditto, usually ignores the birds. When I have Chico out she doesn't pay any attention to him. I can put him on her, but she gets a little nervous. Our Alaskan Husky doesn't like the birds. She will leave them alone in their cages, but if I take them out, she wants to eat them. She wont, because she knows she would be in trouble. But she wants to. Our new toy poodle puppy, Weegee, will look at the birds in their cages. I haven't done much socialization with him and the birds. I need to get on that ASAP. He doesn't seem to want to eat them.

The cats I have now only have had experience with Tico. Tico is not afraid of them and will go down to the floor and actually chase them around, trying to nip at their toes. I still watch them pretty close because the other day I caught Oliver trying to pounce on Tico and I'm not sure if it was a playful thing or that he just isn't very good at hunting skills. Whatever it was, I wasn't amused.

Jasper doesn't like the cats because their whiskers tickle his beak and they don't like him because of his big flapping wings. They are still very curious about this big toy I have brought home.

Alice: 1+ (almost 2) y/o pineapple GCC || Drake: 1+ y/o black capped conure
My toy fox terrier loves to play with Alice, runs in circles around her, sometimes gets a beak attached to her whiskers (Alice is boss!). My Scottish terrier is completely calm, and could not possibly care less. She just ducks if one is flying overhead, and saunters off to do her own thing. Drake usually just hops away from my TFT and goes to the sliding glass doors to hang out in the vertical blinds (loves it there!). Alice loves to play, though!

I'm so jealous of everyone with pets that at least mildly get along. Our family's dog Buster (yellow lab) just wants to get Roxy so bad. The easiest way to keep him away is using a spray bottle with water. I don't know if Buster will ever lose interest in her :\ Ugh! :p

This is how my lab was in the beginning. The solution was a slow and careful introduction.

To start off, my lab is extremely obedient so that made it that much easier. I then wrapped up my bird in my both hands and let my sasha girl sniff it quickly. It was all they needed. Now my bird wants to cuddle with Sasha in her bed but I don't allow this because, well.. my dog is still a 60 pound dog.

With labs, introducing to new pets is actually very easy. My lab can't see my budgies flying around though, she wants to run after them but this is because they hasnt been introduced because my budgies are not tamed.:greenyellow: i'll get to that soon.
