About 3 days after I got Bode, our nanday, I saw an add from a family whose nanday had flown away. Obviously, nandays are homogenous in behavior so some of the things they said could be applied to my new bird. Since the circumstances surrounding his way into my home were strange to me and he is freshly clipped and there was no information about him to be shared, not even a name - I e-mailed them for their bird's band number. I hope it isn't Bode, but if it is, then they should get him back. Just waiting.....

This is good karma. I would do the same thing because if I lost my baby I would want someone to find him and bring him home. I hope it works out the best for all.

Aw no. This would be very bittersweet. Let us know what happens, I'll be sorry to see you lose Bode, but it would ease a family's heartache to have their baby back.

Toughie, I hope it isn't bode and they find their nanday soon

It's sad for you, but imagine if you had lost a bird. You would hope someone would do the right thing if they were in your situation. Good karma will always come back to you (as does the bad!). I hope for your sakes it's not a match, but if it is, you've done the right thing.

That's great of you to do this, if Rosie ever got out and someone found her but kept her knowing I lost a Galah I would be heart broken and very angry. It's like finding someone's child and going, "I've wanted this kind of kid before, I think I'll just keep them". I know it must be very hard for you, it's so easy to get attached to these wonderful and amazing creatures.

Great job at asking for the band number! we should always know this information.

I called and emailed the family but no return contact, so case closed? I suppose they could be gone.
