Oh Poor baby. That cage is small! Maybe you should go look. He might make a good buddy for your baby. He is beautiful.

My daughter parrotmomma sent me that link......my heart is breaking. I know I can't save them all and I really have been considering a second bird a Sun for sure. My fear is that the person who buys him will keep him in that same cage. He is a table ornament. It is about 2 1/2 hours from me. I am really agitated about this poor little guy. I have a room I could quarantine him and he would probably be happy enough in my other large cage without needing a lot of out time until I can bond with him. I prefer a male but this one is really tugging at me. Need advice.

The poor baby! Such a tiny cage, no toys, and the bag of seed looks like it's wild bird food. :(

I think sometimes one just does tug at you. That is how it was when I got my last conure (my Blue Crown). I wasn't planning on getting any more. But I kept looking at this ad about him, and I couldn't stop thinking about him. I felt he needed me (and he did). So needless to say, I did get him. I have been so happy that I got him! He is such a little sweetheart! I know we can't save them all like you said, but I guess if we save even one it is a pretty great thing!! I am probably not a good one to answer because I aways seem to say get her/him! I love when one gets rescued into a great home!!! I wish we could save them all!!

Well she could keep the cage......use it for TP if she likes. He would have a huge cage here. If it came from Petsmart then they are $600 here. Way overpriced. Usually around 300 from breeders.
I would try to negotiate a deal with her keeping the cage. Waiting for a response from her.

Oh my God it is cardinal blend seed. That poor thing. What could I expect as far as health issues from this diet? Anyone have ideas about that? I have to go see this baby. She says he is loud. Hopefully interaction would bring him out of that.

Ugh how awful, there was someone in my area trying to sell a sun in a super tiny cage like that too......what are people thinking......you spent 700$ on a bird from petsmart and 20$ on the cage??? No. *slams head against desk*

Re: Poor little Sun in small cage Worried about his mental state

Truly, my biggest worry is he is so mentally damaged from that cage size that I may not be qualified to help him. I feel a little more confident because I have a green cheek and all the things that work with him. Of course he has been spoiled from day 1.
Are conures a little more resilient than other parrots?

The same ad went up on ebay classifieds. Called the number....he is 2 1/2 yrs old ....entire life in this cage. They set it outside in the sun for a couple hours each morning. Ugh.....
The nephew is trying to sell it and now says it is $500. Something is so messed up here. I cannot go that much. He is calling his aunt about price because of the other ad.
I am sick to my stomach.

you can buy a handfed baby without "possible" emotional problems for 250$. Another person just trying to get a buck from their pet that they cannot provide for. This is so sad, can you link him a handfed baby ad for him to get the price down?

good, I hope this works out for you. On friday I was doing the same thing. This sun I found in Oakland had 2 perches, no toys, yellow/green water in the dish, couldn't see any food in the other dish, a poop filled floor and in a small finch type cage with messed up feathers from the small bars. I offered to pick him up, pay the 200 he was asking and it was a done deal....... but then he emailed me on Saturday and said his dad gave the bird away. What is up with these people buying suns and stuffing them in finch cages???? I have seen around 4 in the past few weeks of browsing, and that is just in the bay area!!!!

best wishes!!!

I cant believe how people treat these beautiful creatures, unfortunately people still think they are fine in those cages with sunflower seeds as a diet. I hope you snatch him up.

I have my limits. I have made an offer of $300. Haven't heard back yet. He was checking with his aunt to see if she would take it. He says the bird came from a breeder not petsmart and they paid $500.
It is really screwy and I am a little nervous about the discrepancy. I don't think they stand a chance of selling it for that price. Who knows maybe they will call me back. I have to just look at it this way. $300 is too much but I am willing to do that to help the sweet little thing.....I will wait for a call, truly I have to let it go for now and wait and see. IF it is meant to be then they will call. If not I have to let it go. By the way he says it is 2 1/2 and it has always been in that cage. So so sad. My gut wants to snag him and bring him home.........but I have to restrain myself.
