Pineapple green cheek and peach faced lovebird.
It's a a year old, originally handfed, but not sure how much in the last year, it's been
Handled. admittedly, previous owner hasn't had it out in a month, and it was caged with
A lovebird. The two times I've had to get it out, it's bit repeatedly, drawing blood.

How long depends on the bird. Start spending time near the cage, eating, singing, listening to the radio. When your presence is accepted, offer some millet through the bars and eventually open the door when the gcc seems ready to interact with you more closely. Honestly if he's that scared of you, it might not be a bad idea to treat this bird as totally "wild" and start the taming process from scratch.

Actually, what it did from the start was come up to the bars and give like "kisses"
and that very gentle tasting type thing..
or that light pressure, that for example, some REALLY nice birds seem not to know how to apply any more than this..
and I thought AWESOME.
In other words it's very interested in interacting.
but day two,the biting started. and when I had to get it out to move it, it really bit.
so it's fine in the cage but if anything I think it's being cage aggressive at this point maybe.

I have heard you should never stick your hand in their cage if they are cage aggressive. That could be his problem. As we say in our house, "he wants to let self out"......He really doesn't like me reaching in for him, of course he hardly ever is in there. Try coaxing him out.

I'm a new owner as well but I've heard females can get protective of their area if they're going into breeding mode. Do not take this as fact, just throwing it out there.
