2 year old conure?

I am looking into getting a conure off craigslist. But the conure is 2 years old and i am wondering if it is a bad idea to get a conure at that age because maybe once it comes into my home it won't be happy because I am not their original owner.
I also want to know how noisy they are, the mess they make, and if it is easy to keep good care of them and strong/healthy.

We picked one up last weekend, and are very happy with him; that said, I did slightly underestimate the work involved! While I had factored in the attention he requires, I forgot about all the work cleaning out his cage and swapping out water/food every day (more if soiled). He's louder than I expected, because if you're not in the room and he can hear you, he makes his 'flock call' almost constantly. He doesn't go to the toilet that much outside the cage, but the mess really depends on how heavily he's favoured the fresh vegetables.

We discovered that every pan we have is PTFE coated, so I replaced them at the weekend.

While I wouldn't have thought that two years (or any age) would be a real issue, it's bound to be down to the bird and how it was treated. The experts here will surely chime in. Time-frames for a bird settling in apparently vary wildly.

I think that with any parrot, you have to go in there assuming that it will be:

Noisy.
Messy.
Needy.
Prone to biting.

At least you won't be disappointed if all of the above are true, and you can work with it.

It will take time to get used to the new surroundings and the new people, but with time, patience and treats, the conure will come around. The squawking can be loud, but is expected as they love to chat. The messy part: poop and food that is dropped, but it's tolerable.

Keeping them healthy is pretty much on you -- changing the food daily, and the water MULTIPLE times during the day. The bird always needs fresh water (I average about 4 times per day) keep the cage clean, pay extra special attention to the food that you give it (there are danger foods they can't have) and keep the cage clean as much as possible. I clean the bottom out once a week, and clean any toys/perches that have poop on them as soon as I see them.

Conures are known for their noise level. My GCC is actually decently quiet. She usually doesn't scream when I leave the room, but that is due to proper training. When she wants to come out of her cage she will scream very loudly. She also screams when something jumps her, when I get home, when someone unfamiliar is here etc. Birds are very vocal and conures are more vocal that many other kinds of birds. She is also very nippy. If something jumps her she is likely to nip, if she's feeling particularly stubborn and I want her to step up she might nip.

Now with all that being said, she is also an absolute sweetheart. She love to talk and to mimic all sorts of noises and she loves to snuggle right up to me and just fall asleep. It may be frustrating at times to have a fid but it is definitely more rewarding than it is frustrating.
