Sorry, Im just pretty frusterated at people that have animals, yet know nothing about them. I was on craigslist and saw two pinnaple conures (that I think they said were 6 dollars? Didnt really understand that)
And that these birds live 70 + years! Conures live about 20-30 years as anyone who owns them probably knows. I asked them if they were 6 dollars each and I said that you might want to know conures live about 20 years. I got an email saying in a pretty non understandable english that they live 70 years, and if I knew anything about them I would know this and that they cant sell them to me because I dont know anything about them.
Ohh....I want to take them home. I feel bad for them....

Create another email account and contact them again. But at $6 for a pineapple conure, it is most likely a scam.

I dont know...They sound like they are either from a different place or pretty young and im pretty sure they could probably mean like 500 or something.
There pretty confusing XD
5 dollars sounds like a scam but who would scam for 5 dollars anyway? Also, they are near me.

I agree with you happycat. I just came across an add on craiglist for a Patagonian Conure for $300. Bleeding heart that I am, I had to leave the site quick as possible before I called and bought him. I also found another ad for an amazon someone wanted to trade for a truck or ATV...I about offered $700 for the beautiful girl and want to tell the owner where to shove his damn truck... People disgust me.

): all those 'free classfields' sites are usually abused by so many people, in australia you need a liscence to sell a woma python because theyre natives. -and back when i thought i might move out for University i was looking around to see what was the best way to rehome my girl, but so many people were selling pythons that were either obese, falsely-aged, or clearly not handled enough so that they simply cant be handled any more. and the enclosures were so smalll! and some didnt even have UV fittings in them. not one of the people i found actually listed their permit number to sell either.

i ended up keeping her as im still at home anyway :) so it turned out ok for her, but i feel so bad for so many of the pets on these sites who go unwanted, or become unmanageable because of neglect. :'(

Ive also seen people that thought there Quaker was a conure and types of dogs that people thought were other breeds.

If your going to get an animal, shouldnt you atleast know what species it is??

One of my biggest frustrations. People not doing research before getting any pet. I don't care if you're getting a pet rock...do research to make sure it's the right pet for you and make sure you're able to take care of it. :) I researched about 3842389 birds before settling on the bird that I knew was right for us and through thick and thin would be with us forever and ever. I researched what breed of dog I wanted and couldn't be happier. I researched rats and their PROPER care, life span, etc before actually bringing the into my home. And I researched the hahns macaw. Luckily I know I have quite some time before I bring him or her home because the potential eggs haven't even hatched yet and I may not be in the running this time due to a waiting list. But I will get my bird and I will be 100% prepared for when s/he comes home.

Ugh. One person I know saw a picture of my two GCC's. She said first, "Can they talk?" I said possibly. She asked,"Can you get one for (I'm going to replace his name with) Bob?" Ya, have you got about 200-300 for the bird, 100-400 for the cage, and money for vet care, toys, foord, and espeacally, time to play with them? She says,"You SWEAR?" I'm going to start off by saying that 'Bob' was 6 years old!!! She's used to going to *shudder* swap meets and flea markets and paying $15 for a budgie that was stuffed in a cage with 25 other birds that I wouldn't even put one bird in, let alone that many. I left my former parakeet with them for 3 days, as I had no one else. Never changed their water, food, and kept on trying to catch it with a towel so they could hold it. When he bit, they would hit him for being bad. If I were my parakeet, I would bite them. I'm sorry for rambling, I just needed to let out my frustration and vent.

I wish all pet parents were like the people on this forum. The world would be such a nicer place.

I've seen breeder's advertisements where they spell conure, cockatiel, parakeet and mollucan wrong all the time. I saw one breeder's ad the other day that said they had a concure for sale. I figured it was just a typo but it was spelled that way every time, I can only hope this was an autocorrect issue and not a sign of the person's intelligence. If so, I feel really bad for those birds. I hate to be overly critical on spelling but if you can't even properly spell the common name of your bird that just shows how little research you have done on them.

i agree with you there. and half of it is simply ignorance, or arrogance that what they know is correct and always will be. The standard for bird enclosures, care, (and other pet care in general) has gone up immensely in the past couple of generations. and some people have failed tragically in keeping up!

My mums dad used to have a Corella back when she was a kid, in a cage barely big enough for him to open his wings. he was never let out as he wasn't tame. her parents were afraid of him, but he let her scratch his head as a child and never attacked her. :( sadly he escaped.

but even more sad is the fact that people still think it is okay to use their old cages like this, and many are still in circulation through local classfields and garage sales. and people use them because it never even occurs to them that its not nice.

There are a lot of ads saying
" 2 loverbirds and 1 Green cheak connure for sale" I think conure was even more wrong then that, but I forgot.
