Excessive Head Bobbing?

Hey everyone, it's been a little while since I have posted on here! So far Mave seems to be eating his pellets. I can't tell because I hesitate to leave him JUST pellets. It does seem that the amount of pellets that I put in is not the same as the amount when I feed him again. SOME are in the bottom of the cage and his water, but not all. Perhaps there is hope for my stubborn bird!

Anyways, I have a question on this new behavior of his. He has been doing a LOT of head bobbing. At first I would mimic it back to him, but he does it a LOT. I don't know how to describe it, but he will sit on the perch next to the door, look at him, and start this insane head bobbing. Is it normal? What does it mean when he is doing this?

Some birds head bob when excited or there way of dancing, also just weaned birds will sometimes head bob.

My bird Scooter will lower his body towards me (sort of bowing), raise his wings slightly and bob his head when he wants me to pick him up. Is it like that, or something different?

It's just head bobbing. He goes crazy like a but up down up down on and on. It's strange to watch!

Well it is possible he's discovered that doing this gets your attention. There is nothing more rewarding for a parrot, it seems, than being able to capture the attention of the slave human. So it could now be a learned thing.

Scooter likes to play "Hey Scoo!" with us. We say "Hey Scoo!" and bob up and down, then he says "Hey Scoo!" and bobs up and down... he could go on like this for hours.

I agree with the others. If I talk real excitedly to Jules and bob my head or tell her yesssss, she does it back to me. It's a new thing so she loves it and I love watching lol.

Thanks for the feedback...now that I think about it...he does seem to do it either when I walk into the room/by his cage or not looking right at him. It could be a mix of excitement and trying to get my attention. I can relax a little and enjoy the show

Puck would bob his head a bunch when he was excited to see somebody.

Sarah bobs when she is excited, and does it very rapidly when very excited. I do not think it is anything to worry about, and if you feel it is just walk out of the room every time he bobs.

Our Scooter bob his head only to my 6 y.o. daughter. She associate the head bobbing to the word dance, so everytime she said "Scooter, dance" he'll bob his head.

My gcc also does the head bobbing a lot. Bit most of the time it's to get out the cage or when she sees me for the first time in the morning.
