Hello! I was wondering where everyone's birds spend their out of cage time? My bird loves to cuddle and be on our fingers or arms, but for hours and hours a day? I would get nothing done lol! Do you all have play gyms or the like? I would love to see or hear where your bird spends out of cage time! :) :rainbow1:

Well honestly, I haven't purchased a play gym yet. Mine loves being with me or running across the back of the couch. At other times when i'm doing chores, she likes riding on top of my head (which I don't advise because mine occasionally will poop on me) lol. I never let her out of my site though because I do have dogs an she will get in the floor and follow me so...

My conure does the same thing, she is always with me, she sits on my shoulder, does chores with me.. I have spent so much $ trying to entertain her and all she wants to do is cuddle and playing with things Im touching like my computer! LOL! I have had to CONURE PROOF my computer! I have bought a play gym and a birdie basketball court but she only just sits on it so Im going to make her a play gym/stand so hopefully she will play on that other then that I just caulk is up to her being a baby and wanting to be with her mommy!

Most of the time, I'll be on the computer (in the same room as Yoshi) and I'll just set him on my computer monitor so he feels like I'm paying attention to him while I'll be doing my own thing. As far as actually getting something done around the house, I usually put him back in his cage. Surprisingly though he is really cooperative, probably because he knows that I'll be back to let him out as soon as I can.

My IRN normally hangs out on the Top of her cage (the cage top opens and she has her toys hanging there) or on a table top stand I made for her to have in the kitchen so she can be with me out there. My quakers won't come out of their cage much. And the budges normally hanging around my daughter. In the even most are watching TV with us all. Or dropping poop bombs on the dogs.

i have a bird room with boings / swings etc hanging from the ceiling and a java tree, and playstand with foraging toys on. they all come out and play in there together for the most part. i put a comfy chair in and i sit in there watching them or cuddling them, or they come out for individual cuddle time.

If I'm home, Audrey's cage is open for her to freely come and leave. She spends most of the day on her cage playtop, on my shoulder, climbing around the lounge or on her Tree gym stand.

Mine sleep in their 'sleep cages' at night which are kept inside. Then they get up around 7-8am and get put out onto our screened in back porch where they are loose all day until about 5pm which is when they come inside. When they are inside we have a stand for Rocco, Rome will only perch on the back of a chair but usually spends her time on either my shoulder or chest while I do house chores. If we don't take them somewhere then I usually will take them outside with me while I water my plants or just hang out on the front porch, do training sessions etc. They have been gong to bed around 8:30pm.

Mine are out 2 to 3 times a day for an hour or two at a time. I time it during my toddlers nap. I would leave them out more but between kids, dogs and cats everyone has to share time with mommy. My boys prefer playing on the couch or floor. Playing under blankets is their favorite out of cage activity. If the would learn to stay on their cage or play gym I'd probably let them out even more.

I'd love to perch him atop my monitor so I can play my video games but he poops every 10-15 mins! I have somewhat trained mine to poop on his poop perch but he'd forget sometimes. How do you manage with Yoshi?

Boomer is out of his cage all day on weekends and 2.5 hours on weekdays. He's be either on a little play gym we set atop his cage, on our shoulder wherever we are, on his favourite window ledge or outdoors with us. He is so hyper though, so he never stays on one spot for too long, it's like he has bird ADD :31: I hope he gets more calm when he gets older, he is only 5 months.

Very cute pictures everyone. Thanks for sharing!

Rosie = Rescued Pineapple GCC,
Rusty = bought Cinnamon GCC,
Scooter = bought Normal GCC,
Tybbi MacGuyver = Rescued Blue Crown Conure
Tybbi gets 1~4 hours each day. Afternoons/evenings.

Rusty and Scooter get 1~2 hours at night.

All adore head scratches and handling. Tybbi has warmed up to me quickly, surprisingly but appreciatively...

Rosie loathes human hands (but will step up and tolerate me for limited periods - being a rescue from an abusive situation, I respect her fears and she's in turn warmed up to me that she never would for the previous owners). She predominately stays in the cage, with occasional time on the playgym when I kit it up with rope perches she recognizes. If there is a "parrot prozac", she'd be a candidate as she is anxious and that's just how she is. :(

American Bulldog Mix,
My bird doesnt have a cage, so we made a huge trees stand and she just plays with her toys and we put her in the shower for maybe 30 mins to relax. I take 10 minutes out to free flight her and that wears her out and keeps her pretty quiet and content for an hour to just sit there on er stand, She watches the cars and kids outside the window and I carry her down the stairs and have her walk up the flight and to her room and up her ladder to her stand for excerise

I love reading all of these diverse ideas! Thanks everyone! For those who have the birds perch on you, what do you do about the dreaded poop?? I'm trying to work on having our conure out more but he will not stay on his little gym, he looks so cute waddling after us but I worry so much with kids and a dog that he coul get stepped on. I wish he would stay put but I can't be mad at him for being so lovey lol!

PeaPod I'm having the same problem as you. Except there are kids and a cat! Can't leave them alone for one second, even if it's just to go get a paper towel for poop.

Alot of people are like me and say 'well birds poop-its thier thing' lol. Others have miracuously potty trained thier parrots- which I would love to know the secret to. And there is also a poop shoulder clot thing that places sell so the poop lands on a cloth that is strapped to your shoulder rather than on you or your shirt.

Yeah, MarahWentz, I'm like that too. Hry, they poop. In fact, Bella just landed a big one on my desk. I don't really get grossed out about it but, duh, I do clean it...
