Once a parrot learns how to mimick your voice in ways of squacking out the syllables he is now not able to ever learn how to mimick voice with his voice. Or the other way around. If he is a pro at mimicking voice he is not so good at the regular parrot chatter and seizes to do it. Thoughts ?

hehe nope they can learn our voices and all the other animals or electronic sounds and also from all the other birds in the aviary. Wish I had that ability.

I think they can learn all sorts of noises. They do tend to learn more of what they are exposed too....hence the thought that they learn one or the other

Scooter -- male Green Cheek Conure "Normal" but that's a matter of opinion! Hatched in March 2010

Scotty -- Male Cape Parrot hatched somewhere between 2007-2009 we think

Caballo Blanco -- male C
Scotty picked up cockatiel within only a few days of our acquiring Blanco. Prior to that he spoke Cape, human, alarm system and a little Green Cheek Conure.

I think they learn what seems important to them to learn. If we understood how they use this adaptive ability in the wild better, we might be better able to understand why they choose to pick up what they choose to pick up.

Parent's have, I baby sit a blue crown conure.
My husband and I adopted a rescue blue and gold macaw.
They produce sound differently than we do, and can make two sounds at the same time. Sweet Pea likes when I buzz my lips, so sometimes he calls my name and makes the lip buzzing sound at the same time. If he's happy he may say, "that's good!," just flash his eyes, or scream like a loud loud loud loud parrot.
