Yesterday we were running errands and I decided we would pop on by the bird store to say hello. Well someone had brought in this blue crown conure the day before to give her up, supposedly divorce. So I watched several people try to get her to come out of her cage, she would bite at them and I thought I heard her laugh. So I had to go try because all the people were making me upset because she was getting upset. I went up talked sweet, said "step up", slowly stuck my finger in her chest and poof it worked. She ran up my arm, snuggled in my neck and started talking, or squeaking I should say. She was trying so hard to communicate and when I laughed she laughed. It was hilarious. Nobody else could come near her not even my husband.
Anyway, I had to wonder if that is what its like to have a bird pick you instead of you picking a bird. So she is now a new member of my household. I discovered today what happens when you play music for her. She bobs her head, sways, and clicks her beak to the music.
She's two years old. Here is a pic. This is the best I could do without upsetting her. My husband says I can't pop by the bird store any more.
