I was feeling a bit naughty, so I took Birdy to the Zoo with me.
We wondered around for a few hours and got to see most of the animals. I was hoping to see some parrots in the giant aviary they have, but there were more native birds then parrots inside.
Imagine my surprise when I followed the direction of some familiar screaming to find a whole cage devoted to conures!
At first all I saw and heard were the Sun Conures (they're hard to miss). There were about 20 of them being loud and boisterous and didn't care much for Birdy.
But then there were 5 or so beautiful Crimson Belly Conures in the cage that were absolutely amazed at the sight of Birdy. They all flocked over when I placed him on the info sign in front of the cage and tried to get a closer look at him!
I actually forgot to bring my camera, but a friend let me use his iPhone to take a few snaps:
At this stage quite a crowd had gathered around, the kids telling their parents that one of the babies had escaped from the cage! So I reached down to pick Birdy up in the normal manner and the whole group gasped "Whoaaa!"
The Sunnys continued to not care...
Good times!
