*SIGH*

I adore Tybbi but I came down with a cold and started popping cough drops. Tybbi took an instant desire to the wrappers. He normally does not care for anything made of paper. I wouldn't let him play with the paper, as it's wax-coated and contained some delicious, addicting medicine that might have residual matter on the wrapper - his ingesting such medicine might be detrimental to him. Or worse.

But if cleaned, will this wax-like paper become a suitable toy?

I'm thinking "no way" but wanted to ask...

I've just never seen Tybbi so enamored over anything made of paper like this, and pretending that plain paper towels were interesting didn't compel him whatsoever... he must love something about the white and yellow Halls logo printed on the paper, I suppose... but without knowing, I can't spoil him or indulge him. Too risky without knowing all the facts and, surprisingly, I've found little online...

And now for something that's actually unrelated, since I wouldn't use them both as being the same strung-up toy:

Oyster shells: I've bought some seafood that was placed in pretty oyster and purple scallop shells. If cleaned thoroughly, are these shells safe for birds to peck at, assuming they take an interest? I've seen toys with smaller shell-like structures at pet stores, but am not certain if the ones at the grocer's freezer department might be unsafe. I don't want to harm my flock.

Thanks!

Oyster shells should be fine, just like cuttlefish bone really. Casper loves to play with sea shells, Margaret has a collection in a glass fronted cabinet which fascinate him. He is occasionally allowed in the cabinet to stumble about amongst the shells causing chaos and Margaret will sometimes get some out for him to play with.

I give my GCC clean oyster and clam shells to play with, she likes to throw them. As for the wrappers, I wouldn't give them to your bird. Maybe try wax paper instead. It has a similar texture.
