For once I decided to make use of the Youtube account I've had for years but never uploaded anything to. I recorded a couple videos of Tootsie and Rosco carrying on this evening and uploaded them to share the "pleasant" sounds of two blue crowns causing a riot of noise.

The first one is their way of letting me know they are tired and it is time for them to go into their cages so they can settle down. If you have a blue crown, I'm sure it will get their attention. They are being quite loud. Should have heard it when I played back the video to them! Made my ears ring! Rosco is the one that flies around. Tootsie eventually perches on the side perch of the closer cage.

The second is their reaction to me filming them. They sure got all puffy headed at the phone! Rosco on the left. Tootsie on the right.

Believe it or not, 5 minutes after these videos were recorded all was peaceful and calm.

So, if I figured out embedding correctly then the videos should be below...

Lol....what a pair~! They are so cute!!! I just adore those little poofy heads when they spy your phone lol

I just adopted my bcc this week and HOLY MOLY he's loud!!!

Do you switch their toys in and out often? Rio craves constant attention and I start classes tomorrow, I just want to make sure he's not screaming for 6 hours while I am gone @school. My brother was already complaining to my mom about both of my conures noise level on day 2 of owning Rio. He came with a boing, rope swing, cuddle tent and just one hanging toy. I made a toy with shredded paper and haven't gotten to the store yet. What toys do yours like best?

Do you think these are louder than say a Jenday? I don't think they are horribly loud...certainly loud, but not pain invoking loud!

Lintini, I switch out the toys about every week or so. Usually they have around 5 in each cage. I rotate them between cages and a few extras in a box. The following links are a couple of their favorite toys. Takes them a while to chew them apart. Though Tootsie does not shred toys. She prefers to "tongue" them. Seems to really like heavy textures and will spend hours just exploring them with her tongue. She is old. And weird.

Avian Take-Out Submarine Medium by Super Pet - SHREDDABLE TOYS by MY SAFE BIRD STORE
Frayed Knot - SHREDDABLE TOYS by MY SAFE BIRD STORE
I also have a couple chains with 4 larger bells on them. Rosco loves them. Rings them every single night after lights out.

* * * * *

Momto3, I have never heard a Jenday going off at full volume. Tootsie and Rosco were not going all out in the videos but from 6 feet away they were causing the mic in the phone to distort. Rosco has this "trumpet" like noise that he does often when Tootsie is squawking that is really loud that is not in the videos. When both are going at top noise it can overload my ear drums. The noise they make gets distorted and it can hurt a little.

I think it is really hard to compare one species noise to another since the type of noise they make can very so much. What one person may find extremely loud and obnoxious another might not find all that bad. Tootsie is a complainer and sometimes her noise can set my teeth on edge.

Do you think these are louder than say a Jenday? I don't think they are horribly loud...certainly loud, but not pain invoking loud!

I've heard Jendays at pet stores. They are LOUD.

BCCs have the potential to get loud, but Tybbi has never once screeched at full volume. He's typically got less volume output than my GCCs. The loudest he screams is somewhat louder than my GCCs... but making a mental note of the Jenday next to that screech, or recalling Tybbi's screech when being reminded of the Jenday while at the store, Jendays are louder and more frequently so.

I live in an apartment and nobody has complained. Maybe I've been lucky but his volume level never gets louder than the tv in the living room area and hasn't been constant... I would say "try one out" for apartments as they can be iffy, but if you know the neighbors and live by a firewall, their main cage can be strategically located too, so neighbors won't hear. The three year old kids who scream when spanked by their parents are far louder...

But from some reading it is claimed BCCs are one of the quieter arantingas... Jendays and Suns will deafen from ten feet away... I wish I could remember the name of the book, and it's out of print as petsmart used to sell it but it's not on their site, but the table of species and loudness it presented featured BCCs as being "OK" for apartments (not the outright "NO" accorded Suns, Jendays, and others for apartments). So they can be loud, but are nowhere near the loudest...

Parent's have, I baby sit a blue crown conure.
My husband and I adopted a rescue blue and gold macaw.
My parents blue crown is 10 times louder than the mitred.

He adores his toys and has a zillion of them. His favorite are his cups. He stacks them, uses them as megaphones, fills them with water and pours it over things, taps them, tosses them, holds them while he preens, moves them up and down, talks to them, scolds them, carries two or three and plays them like castenets, turns them over and plays them like drums, etc.

We have to watch the plastic aspect and replace them, but so far it has been fine. Anything else just melts, because he is obessed with water. Everything goes in his water.

If he doesn't have a lot of toys, he takes apart anything he can find in the house. He disassembled the handle that opens the window a few times before he got his cups.

My dad also gave him a cleaned pill bottle and put a penny in it. It took him a few weeks to figure out how to open up the child proof cap, but he can do it now rather quickly. He hasn't chewed any pill bottles apart. We just have to hide any pill bottles that have medicine in them. He told me once, "that's my favorite toy."

He also stacks his other toys on top of his pill bottle in the finest jenga fashions, but he's left footed, a little odd bird he is!

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
Great videos. Our birdies ARE just like toddlers. I don't even know your BCCs, but I knew just what they were saying, lol. I got tired myself just watching them tell you they are tired.

On the noise -- Pritti, Cherry-Headed Conure, has a very loud screech. I remember reading about CH's and seeing one of the commons "warnings" is that they are very loud and if you dont think you can take it, beware.

Pritti gives out a few indignant screams when he's annoyed that the lights aren't dimmed yet or that the tv is too loud and he's ready to sleep, and has already gone inside to his sleeping perch. He's an older fella, so he's not too wild and rowdy at night.

Thought that I would add one more video to this thread. Tootsie and Rosco decided to "sing". Here we go for some more microphone busting noise....

They are so cute, but holy cow are they loud!!!! My quaker is sitting on my shoulder freaking out--she chimes in to the kids yelling and dogs barking, but this has rendered her silent :) Thanks for sharing. I saw an absolutely adorable baby blue crown today and I might get him/her, but just not sure!!!
