Was at the local pet store today and notice all these different mineral / vitamin additives and what not in the bird section... Is there any that should be a nessesity? And what about worming birds? Because I saw that stuff there too which made me wonder

Can't comment much on worming birds... it's rarely ever done here in the USA and I've heard that if you keep your parrots outside in Australia, they should get dewormed every now and then... but that inside parrots don't need it! And feel free not to quote me on that!

If your parrot is already eating a healthy diet, especially one that contains pellets, then vitamins and minerals are *not* required. It is possible to cause a vitamin overdose in our birds!

That is very important! The bird don't die whit to little vitamins, but can do that with too much.

For parrots that not are eating anything else then seed I use this:

I recommend Healx to all of my clients..

also, you have to be very careful supplementing any bird that eats healthy.
check for natural occurring trace minerals like calcium, potassium, sulphur, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, copper, iodine and zinc. Do not use in birds eating either a formulated diet or a seed diet supplemented with these.

I use [ame=http://www.amazon.com/SUNSHINE-natural-vitamin-supplement-animals/dp/B004TA9QYS/ref=sr_1_10?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1351373681&sr=1-10&keywords=HealX+AviX]Amazon.com: SUNSHINE FACTOR 16 oz AviX A natural, whole food vitamin supplement for all animals: Pet Supplies[/ame] because its all natural unlike synthetic supplements at stores, and because it doesnt decompose or decay like the synthetic suuplements do. and i only use half a dose per bird, so that there is a low chance of too large of a dose and i use it one week on, one week off.

I use other healx products for birds with poor diet, health problems,
and i use a healing cream for minor injuries. i cover it with gauze around the bird then i cover it with medical saran wrap lol.. i provide clients with everything to maintain the wrapping including 2 small spray bottle of diluted medicines, a tester container of the cream, and the wraps.

first i spray rain, then soother, then cream, then to remove the cream and provide more, rain then soother then cream again. the cream is soother plus topical cream nontoxic antimicrobial cream with immediate antipruritic effects. these products can heal injuries, trauma, plucking problems, bald spots, sore feel, etc.

also, you never want to combine different brands. always stick with one.

and its better to underdose than overdose.
