Love bites?

Is there such a thing as a loving bite? Lately, my 8 year old conure has been "warming" up to me and giving me gentle bites on the neck and ears.. it kind of hurts, but I try not to make him feel guilty over it just incase its a loving thing.
Does anybody else have a conure that does this? and is there anything I can go to stop it? I've been offering him sticks to check when he starts.

4 Cockatiels 2 males Chicken Little & Charlie, 2 Females Chiquita and Sweet pea. Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure -Franklin and our now tame, rescued feral Pigeon - Belle.
Our conure, Franklin does this to me often and if he get's to "excited" and nips a bit to hard, I always tell him "Ouch, be nice" and if he's on my shoulder nipping on my neck or ear, I'll shrug up to make him stop...with repetition he's been really really good about backing off. Granted, our Franklin is extremely sensitive to our voice tones and takes us seriously.

If he "accidently" bites me harder than expected, I always "punish" him by saying OUCH in a firm voice and making him get off me for a few moments. If I think he's building up to a stronger nip...I can say...Frankieeee....bee niiice...in a warning tone and that's pretty much all he needs anymore.

I think it's important to let him know that "hurts" you and be consistent, he'll learn the boundaries of how much "love nip" is acceptable. :)

Good Luck!

Parent's have, I baby sit a blue crown conure.
My husband and I adopted a rescue blue and gold macaw.
Last night I visted my parent's blue crown conure. He got on my shoulder and decided it would be a good idea to show me everything he knows. He said every word he has learned up to this point including, "ouch!" Before he said ouch, he grabbed the tiniest bit of flesh on my checkbone and gave it a little pinch. "Ouch!" I can safely say that was a love bite.

My green cheeked conure likes to nibble on my fingers and my neck at times, and I make sure my bird knows when it hurts, for the most part when he does nibble it doesn’t hurt, but at times it does, and I say “no bite” in a firm voice and he will back off some, find something else to do, and love nibble me some more, but it almost never hurts, but if your conure love nibbles and it hurts, let them know. And Ik this post was from a while ago, but thought I’d post something too!

Remi loves to manipulate me with his beak. So, the moment he starts, he goes back to his perch. For example, I am eating something and he wants it-he bites - he goes back on the perch. It's the only way to teach them not to bite.
I don't know about "love bites". Petey loves to preen me but I don't consider that biting.

Mango will nibble my ears and fingers. It's usually gentle but every now and then she gets a little overexcited.

"Southern Belle" a blue female
"Beau Dandy" a green male
Belle is especially fond of nibbling on my fingernails, not hard, Beau will do it too if the doofus sees her doing it and can focus long enough to get in on the action, she also tries to preen my ears and the bridge of my nose/glasses for me...the biggest danger I have found is volume when beaks are right next to ears....can be very, very loud.
