I have been in contact with my local parrot rescue and we were in discussion of how I can be of help because I would like to volunteer some of my time with helping out. I am also open to adoption if the right bird/situation were to come upon me.

So in discussion and with what the rescues needs are at this time I am going to try to foster a parrot to help them out but also might lead into adoption. It seems I am going to discuss fostering a conure parrot and the lady recommenced a female brown throat conure that has recently came into their rescue.

Anyway I am open to the idea but after several tries at researching this type of conure I found that there is not much information about these type of parrots.

So if anyone conure people out there have experience with the Brown Throat Conure I would love to hear from you about these birds. I want to know all I can about them so I can help out this female if the situation presents itself that I would foster her and maybe move to adoption.

At this time she would be the only parrot in my home so I would have LOTS of time to help her with training and trust work. I am told she is a sweet parrot and moving forward with her will depend on how the "meeting" goes. I want to be prepaired with information in case we decide to move forward with fostering her.

Thank you so much for your input and any information you could supply.

We have two baby brown throats that I have been raising since they were only about 2 weeks old. These are the only two I have every personally worked with but I absolutely love them. They are very smart and inquisitive and love to head rubs and cuddles. The only downside that I have noticed is that I found is that they are a bit loud. Being that they are in the aratinga family that is completely expected. They never scream very long or often but every now and then they do get going and it gets all of my babies in a big hoo hah of chirps and squeals. It really isn't loud enough to bother me but compared to the green cheeks they are quite a bit louder.

I have been having trouble finding the time to get on the forum as much as I used to but if you'd do end up adopting her and have any other questions you can always pm me on here or email or contact me through facebook. If you pm me through the forum it will send me an email so I know to come check it :) Hopefully there will be some others that can give you some advice but brown throats really arent that common so there may not be anyone else. I know the two I have are the first two I have ever actually seen in person.

Thank you so much for your reply IcyWolf. I was suspecting the lack of information on these parrots was because there are not a lot of them out there.

For now it depends on how our meeting goes with the brown throat. If it seems to be a good fit and I am able to help her I will regardless of not knowing much about this type of parrot. I appreciate the offer to reach out to you if I need too and I will if I have any questions or concerns.

If we end up taking her home I will update all about her.
