Sleep tent

So I have a medium sized sleep tent for a jenday conure and a green cheek conure, they sleep in it. I bought them another one because it looks small when they are both in there. But they want to sleep together. So I was looking for a bigger one online and found out that alot of people say to not buy one because they are really dangerous. Even read some gdam horrible stories about birds dying from getting choked on the strings. My guys don't bite or play with the tent, they only like to sleep in it but regardless it now makes me worry. So this is the one we have but it is green-
Amazon.com: Multipet Happy Hut Plush Cage Hut for Birds, Assorted Green, Grey and Yellow Colors: Pet Supplies Amazon.com: Multipet Happy Hut Plush Cage Hut for Birds, Assorted Green, Grey and Yellow Colors: Pet Supplies

My question is, is there a safe one out there? That is large enough to comfortably accodamate 1 medium and 1 small bird? Or is there no safe one and I should take it away?

Re: Sleep tent

I heard some people taking a tin coffee can, lining it with something and closing it up with cloth...

Honestly though, almost everything can be dangerous for our fids... even the cages we keep them in. A wooden toy? Potentially dangerous if a bird accidentally ingests some and it gets lodged in the throat or crop.

You can only do the best that you can and check items frequently for any safety hazards.

'snuggle tent'

This is what I have for my two Green Cheeks. I purchased the medium size and they love it. If any parts become worn you can order replacement parts too. The manufacture website is Hidensleeps.com You have to call to order.

Re: Sleep tent

Try fleece ones. Fleece doesn't fray, making it safer than faux fur. Try MySafeBirdStore (the banner at the top of the page) or Just Bird Tents. QUALITY BIRD TENTS

I have two green cheek conures that share a Happy Hut tent as well, and I am planning on getting one from the 2nd site listed.

WARNING: You have Happy Hut, there should be a tiny cloth tag on the top part of the hut, where it hangs. If you can see it, cut it off! Bella my conure got tangled in the tag bc it was fraying. Just a warning.

Re: Sleep tent

BTW, the hidensleeps.com product can be full disassembled in less than a minute. It can be fully inspected, cleaned and washed. I put a fleece blanket inside for the birds to snuggle with.

I couldn't have said this better. The happy huts are not dangerous at the beginning, but they become dangerous if they they wear out. Birdy's happy hut of one year is as good as new because of the way he treats it. It's one of the things that I worry the least about in his cage.

Thanks for the heads up but I did that a while ago, not for safety though I did it because for a while one of them would sleep inbetween the tent and the cage and I thought it was bothering her lol.

Alright thanks guys for the responses.
