How to give a healthy diet to my young Conure?

I feed her Buy Vitakraft Amazonian Food - 750g from Northern Parrots, fast UK delivery, but I'm not quite sure if it;s any good. Alot of people seem to make their own bird food or feed them something called Harrisons (?). I give her fruit every day, and fruit juice, but I don't know if I'm giving her the correct dry seeds and that. Any advice on how to give her a really healthy diet? Hoping to have her around for a long time <3

We feed our conure pellets and fresh fruits and vegies... some shreds of lean meats 3 times a week..

Really the trick with a lot of birds is finding a healthy diet that they'll eat I wish you luck

I use Harrison's pellets, seed mix, and fresh fruit and veg. The Bag of conure mix we originally bought was loaded with sunflower seeds etc, so we removed them all and kept the remains.

3 tsp pellets, 1 tsp seed mix, and as much veg as he can eat; I only add a small amount of fruit. Avoid anything with sugar/salt/etc, the closest thing Aizen has to processed human food is a very rare munch on my muesli when I'm eating breakfast.

Harrison's is like dog/cat food, only for parrots. It's supposed to be a 'complete diet' with some fruits and veggies fed as a supplement.

If you aren't feeding pellets, then you should feed something along the lines of 30% healthy grains (sprouted or cooked), 15% healthy legumes (sprouted or cooked - not the cheap stuff, nor the cheap bean soup mixes), 45% vegetables and 10% fruits. This should be fed along with seeds on a daily basis. Cooked eggs can be fed 1-8 times per month for added nutrition.

If you want to provide healthier seeds, buy a seed mix meant for sprouting.

Seed alone is *not* healthy, and fruits do not have nearly as much nutrients in them as vegetables do. Sure, they are still good, but not as a main part of the diet.

Re: How to give a healthy diet to my young Conure?

My conures have, small parrot seed about a tablespoon, pellets same amount. That makes up 20% of their food, the other 80% is soaked/sprouted seed mix. Raw almonds, pine nuts. heaps of vegies especially green leafy veg. Fruit. As long as it a balanced diet with a huhe variety of foods offered. The do get bored with the same foods day in and day out.

This link sounds like fun.
