Hello all,
pictured above is my beautiful boy Remy, who we have only had for 3 days.
while there have been no major problems, i still thought i would go straight to the source instead of searching for all the random posts relating to Nandays.

I'm completely new to owning a Nanday and would appreciate any tips and advice anyone has on owning one.

Obviously I'm aware of the patented Nanday screaming.. luckily Remy isn't too bad (despite being in a new environment), he'll only do it when something startles him, or if a new person approaches his cage.. honestly, I thought he would be like an early morning alarm clock, but he's been an angel in the mornings..
can't say that much for Zeph (our green cheek) who starts with his kissy sounds and yelling "big kiss!!" over and over from 6am every morning lol.

in the long run i'm just hoping to get him settled in nicely to the point we can handle him, right now he'll only sit on our shoulders and step up onto our hands, but will not let us pet him.
and if i can get him and Zeph to get along that would be great too.. so far they can be out at the same time, but we have to watch them closely as Zeph will be the one to try and instigate a fight (which we have let happen yet)..

so yeah, that's pretty much all i'll say right now,
as i said, I would greatly appreciate any tips and advice :)

Yes, get some ear plugs! :D

Other than that, also be prepared for the possibility he will end up using his beak to communicate alot.

Other than that, Nandays are one of my favourites. They have loads of personality and are so beautiful. I birdy sat one who demanded snuggles in bed at 6am every single morning. It was my first venture into the world of birds (other than budgies and cockatiels) and it was scary and awesome all at the same time. I honestly couldn't handle the noise and gave him back early! lol Sometimes I wish their sound didnt irritate me so much, because they are so awesome in every other way.
