I have a Sun Conure that is about eight months old, and recently he has been trying to bite my nails. It began as picking then escalated to biting and began to hurt. I try to get him to stop by telling him "no biting" and putting him in his cage for a few minutes but it has not stopped. Every so often he will bite my skin a bit but not as much as my nails, and this has only began about two weeks ago. I know it is biting because it hurts and if I let him continue to do it, he would more than likely break the skin. He is my I have had three cockatiels, and two Quaker Parrots, none of them (thankfully) were biters. I am pretty much at a loss here and don't know what to do. Any ideas? :orange:

Do you think he might have started this nibbing/biting behavior because he got bored and nails are an interesting thing?

Have you ever tried distracting him with foot toys, leather strips, beads, trick training, etc before he starts biting?

Long shot here...........
Are you wearing nail polish at all, if so it could be the colour

I have long finger nails, Mishka never used to try to nibble then, until I wore red nail polish.

No more red nail polish for me !!!!!

The nail polish is an interesting idea.
I've also noticed with my conure that if one of my nails has broken (so it's shorter than the rest) he won't bother with it. But all my other nails are fairly long and he loves them.
You could try cutting yours depending on the length, or you could do the mini earthquake, laddering technique etc..
