They do have the ability to talk, and to teach them is simply by talking to them and saying certain phrases over and over again. Just remember that just because they have the ability to talk doesn't mean they will. Some birds do and some don't.

I am sorry to say but Suns are not known to talk. There are cases where some people have owned birds that talk but seldom occurs. Those are special cases but in general should not expect Suns to talk. Quakers parrots are known to be great talkers but mine only says Hi and thats it. So if you want a talking bird then you should get a bird that is known to be great or good talker. I expected my Quaker to be the best talker but my Senegal parrot actually says his name Snoopy, baby, sweet baby, good bird, pretty bird, hey buddy and whatcha doing buddy. The Sun is the bird that my whole family loves and adores more than any other bird because of its social nature. It cuddles with everyone and has been real blessing to have. The Sun is the most beautiful that I have ever come across and it can even more beautiful when it gets all its colors in two years time. So enjoy your Sun and expect it to be a cuddle bug and you wont ge disappointed. I also feel that my Sun plays with me like a puppy. I dont get that type of interaction from other birds. So the Sun has its own special qualities even if never says one single word. Peace be to you.
