UGH!! how frustrating!!

I've been emailing a lady in my local town that had an add on craigslist that she was rehoming her 1 yr. old jenday conure! and everything seemed fine we were about to set up a visitation time and everything i let her know that i was more then likely going to buy the jenday from her if the visitation went well but now idk if she's changed her mind but i haven't heard from her for a while!! I mean if you don't wanna rehome her anymore at least say so im not so anxious to meet the bird and im just left hanging!!

Sorry i just had to rant about it to someone...haha i was really looking forward to meeting the bird again and hopefully bringing her home! And i found out that this was a bird that used to be at my local petsmart! i used to visit her all the time and then they sold her...ugh...im so frustrated lol does this ever happen to people trying to adopt from local people?

Sorry to hear about this! it would be better if she just told you straight away if she was rehoming her still! hopefully you can get to visit her!

This happened to me when i was buying a horse at the beginning of the year, we organised a time, called many times, all was going well, and we said we were most likely going to buy him, then a few days before we were going to see him she wasnt calling us back, then we emailed her a few times, then she finally told us she wasnt going to sell him anymore... 2 months later, after i had purchased another horse, she called up asking if we want to come see him..

This is pretty typical of Craigslist...sometimes they find someone else and don't even bother telling you...I hope this isn't the case for you....
She may have had someone come right away and didnt want to take a chance on you showing up as planned..
Craigs isn't the best place to buy or sell most of the time.....

Ya ugh some people! lol still haven't heard anything so i guess its back to my original plan..which i dont mind but the wait is longer...ugh again ha. but this way everything will be brand new(including the birdie) so i guess thats better, just bummed.

People do that all the time, BUT I don't usually get sad if they want to keep them cause most of the time I try to talk them out of it. IF they're providing the bird a good home to begin with and good diet and all. It is actually less stressful to the bird to stay with their existing owners then to move to somewhere else. So it doesn't bother me if they want to keep them, it actually makes me feel good. But in your case, you want another bird so you get a bit disappointed. There's been a few case they contact me back to give them to me anyways. I've known enough bird people around, they start to pass my number and e-mail around as I just got a e-mail last week about a Nanday Conure and I declined right there as they're one type that I can not tolerate. They're also illegal to own, breed, or sell in the state of TN and several other states. So I can not bring him to a vet clinic ever. But I decline all conures anyways as most of them try to give me Sun Conures. I can deal with any specie but conures....I used to have them in the past and I just can't stand their scream, I know it's funny because I've got big birds with bigger screams, BUT they don't scream nothing like a conure....lol.....

Ya that makes a lot of sense mikeytn I just know the bird from the store so I was really looking forward to it. I would want to adopt a young sun conure because usually there past there terrible two stage already lol! But for the record idk why but I enjoy the sun conure scream the one I can't stand are the cockatoo screams...drives me nuts! And if someone offered me a nanday I woulda said yes in a heartbeat! Haha jus sayin...

She emailed back!! she said she lost her phone or someone stole it but her jenday is still available i just found an amazing deal on a new cage for the sun i was gonna get because i thought she already sold the jenday(which already comes with a nice cage) so i hope i can get a visit in before then so i can make a decision if im gonna take the jenday or continue with the sun?! AAHH! i hate decisions like these! any suggestions??

I would go for the Jenday since you already had an attachment to it from visiting it at the store...then I may be biased...there was a Jenday I used to visit at my local Petco but I couldn't get it as the noise is too much for an apartment building...and me for that matter...lol

Have you thought about getting both? Just sayin....my conure was a crazy screaming thing until my daughter bought one and brought it with her to work. Crazy thing, the screaming stopped except for a couple minutes in the am and pm. Other than that they played happily. My daughter ended up taking my conure home to keep hers from screaming. As long as they have each other they are not bad.

Ya i've considered that but my family barely wants to let me get one! lol i already have two budgie's and then 2 conure's would be too much for my budget right now lol! petsmart isn't very generous with their pay...

I got my BCC off craigslist and didn't have a problem, they basically wanted to fling him at me and run away.

But I did have a strange craigslist thing happen with a puppy I wanted to adopt maybe 6 years ago off there. The lady interviewed me for over an hour over the phone and we set up a date and time and she gave me her address. I showed up at her house with 2 of my roomies and we heard dogs barking and no one was home. We waited at her house for TWO hours, even asked the neighbors if this was the correct house with puppies for sale. I traveled 2 hours to see her too. I left tons of messages on her phone, and I never heard from her again. What a waste of time and how RUDE!!!!!!! I'm still butthurt. I am just glad getting my BCC Rio went smoothly and the family was nice, just fed up with his noise

I had two at one point, they were worse....lol....

I asked to visit today for about an hour or so and she said "sorry but I really don't want you in my house that long when you buy a bird from the store for 600 they don't give you an hour" what the heck?! Lol I started laughing when I read that! I was in there for a couple months! What are you talking about! I didn't really tell her that but really?! Its ok I don't mind as long as I get to visit!

I stalked my two Petco's for over a month going in pretty much every night before I bought Rico....I used to make a joke of it saying "The bird stalker is here!" lol

Haha that's funny that's how I felt! just in my case I didn't know anyone so idk if they just thought I was weird LOL!

There was a Lory I visited for over a year at Petco before I was going to bring him home. I talked to my partner about him and we went to see him one day. My partner liked him as well so we decided to bring him home the next day. He was gone the next day, I was soooooooooooo mad. Cause he was in there for a year and nobody bought him, the day we want to pick him up, he was gone....

Of course they had to buy him that day right?! I'm sorry that happened to you!

Not the same situation, but I'm going through something similar with a B&G macaw. I traveled 2.5 hours to and from Chicago to visit this guy with the bird, and he's being wishy washy with the timeline on when he's ready to give the bird up! First he made it sound like he's ready pretty soon, then he says "I'm just preparing to find him a home, in case something were to happen to me" (he's acting like he's dying sometime soon or something!). I mean, I know beggers can't be choosers but come on, I can't keep driving back and forth for months and months before this guy makes up his mind! Haha.

Thing is, the bird is awesome. Well socialized, plays games, a real entertainer, and he and his cage are free. So I'm holding out....for now....haha.

Update! this lady will email me for a while then i wont hear from her for a day or two. i have this amazing deal on a new cage (i made a thread about it) and i told her it expires sunday that i need to be able to visit by then so that i can make a good decision about what to do and she emailed back pretty quick and said then just pass on my bird and get that cage. which i don't wanna do if i don't have to but what do you think? does she not wanna get rid of this bird or what? im confused?? lol

Well i kept bugging and we finally set up a meeting! tomorrow afternoon im going over to her house! ill let you guys know how it goes tomorrow! wish me luck!!
