Hi! Kaleeko has had a change in her poop the past few days. Her poop seems more watery and is green? She gets fresh cut fruits and vegetables every morning (her favorites are zucchini, strawberry, green apple and carrots). She has a seed mix available all day, as well as a zupreem fruit blend. She eats millet seed occasionally too.

If the fruits and veggies are new to her diet it may be causing the change because of a higher water content. Her diet sounds good:)

Bright green droppings (brighter than normal), polyuria and bubbles are potential signs of a sick bird.

However, it could also be diet related. Is it possible that Kaleeko is eating all the green Zupreem?

I would recommend buying some Zupreem Natural and seeing if that clears up both the color as well as the watery droppings. I don't have photos, but when my conure was on the Zupreem Fruit Blend, his droppings were all sorts of colors (green, red, purple, brown...) and rarely ever had any form. Switched him to Zupreem Natural and his droppings became one or two colors (green to sandy brown) and the majority of his droppings all had form to them. He's now eating Harrison's and his droppings look even better now!!!!

Some other owners of medium sized birds also noticed the difference in their birds droppings between the Fruit Blend and Natural. Owners with large parrots commented that their birds droppings were green (i.e. no dyes) and normal.

I've been feeding the zupreem fruit blend for years, droppings been pretty normal here. BUT 16 years ago when I first started Zupreem I had noticed the colored poop. I tried giving my birds the colorless kind they would have nothing to do with it....lol....

Great advise from the members above, not much to add.
Keep an eye on Kaleeko, if it persists take her to the vet.
Birds tend to hide illnesses without any visable signs.

I know if any of my birds eat a lot of seed they will poop green, and agree the watery poop can be from the veggies, is it only in the morning or all day?
I know there's some subtle differences between watery poop and diarrhoea, I THINK (and someone might have to back me up since this all from memory) that what you need to watch out for is the smell as well as making sure the vent looks clean, if it's dirty then it's off to the vet.

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
You might try adding a little cooked whole grain to see if it helps firm the poop a bit, brown rice, quinoa, or some well cooked beans. Couple months ago, Pritti's poop seemed very wet, like leaving round circles of water on newspaper and then snake-like pieces of green poop. Went to a-vet next day because I started to notice other slight changes in eating and habits, like he was super clingy. Turned out he had an infection and decreased kidney functions a little. So we went home with antibiotics and a homeopathic kidney nutritional support mix. His poop is normally green and white. But it was just green with lots of water.

So watch for subtle changes in habits.

What foods does your macaw eat? Age? Ever had a CBC/blood panel and gram stains taken?
