We got Yogi when he was 2 months old and he's now 3 months old. I can already tell he's going to be a smart one! He's already mimicking kissing sounds and he says "I love you" :)

He is 100% gcc. I got him from a local breeder that I know. I do agree that he does look slightly different :)

Green cheeks have various color variants. Why would a slight discoloration signify that he's a hybrid?

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a hybrid. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the green cheek conures in the USA are hybrids! But they are still green cheeks! Hybrid green cheeks...

There are several subspecies of green cheek conures. Some have full crimson tail feathers while others have green at the base of their tail feathers. Some have blue coloring around their vent feathers, other's don't. Some have a lot of red to their stomachs while others have a mostly green stomach. Some green cheeks have a lot of yellow to their breast feathers while other green cheeks have a mostly grey breast. Some green cheeks have blue to their back feathers and others don't. Green cheeks also vary in size from 55 grams to 80 grams. Again, this is all due to different subspecies.

When breeders can't distinguish between different subspecies (I already see a bunch of breeders who can't distinguish between species, so who's going to be able to distinguish between subspecies???) we end up with a bunch of hybrids!

The following website tries to show the different subspecies of green cheeks
green cheeked

Did a search on Flickr for some green cheek conures... in that search, I found a black capped conure and a maroon bellied(?) conure... looked through more photos and found another black capped labeled as a green cheek.

Regardless, Yoshi is adorable! Makes me wonder how a green cheek I know is doing. Keep the photos of Yoshi coming!
