I think my fear was the same as yours... I worried that Codie would not bond to me, but luckily it was me she chose:)

I was the one that took care of Codie right from day 1, so maybe if you do the same, he will bond to you:) Some do take to all members of the family, but Codie never has:(

hehehe, When I brought home Rosie she was starting to really bond to my brother and not was starting to be mean to me. When that happened I told my brother he needed to see her less so she saw him very rarely and I am now her favorite. The reason I did that was because my brother isn't fond of birds, he would pet her and talk to her to make her happy but would ever commit. Letting her truly bond to him would of been cruel.

Rosie is older though, so I had different fears then people bringing home a baby :)

I was worried about bonding too. Especially first days when Lou was biting like crazy. Eventhough I knew it's normal I was thinking "oh my god, he already hates me" :p
And I was so jealous when he would rather sit with my dad thank with me but now I know that he will always come back to me or run away on my arm whenever he is scared. :)

haha i had that exact fear!!
For the first few days Fargo seemed to be 'okay' with me, and i thought that he would never love me :( and then one day my brother was at the window and Fargo was very interested in him, and i was like noooo :( but then it turns out he is interested in anything on the other side of the window ;)
But now he does love me! hehe :D

When I look back over all the years I've had my parrots, I think about my initial fears (much as everyone has noted here, will they pick ME) and I now smile, because they all picked their favorite family member despite what I had to say or wish or even TRY to control on the matter, and then they picked again, and yet again. Parrots sometimes change their allegiances when the wind changes or the mood strikes. I've been the favorite, then not so. My Grey seems to change his favorite on a daily basis. Every morning, I open his cage and ask if he's mine today or not. LOL When I am, he tumbles head first into my arms. When I'm not, he fluffs those head feathers and pushes my hand away with his beak and he gives his love to his other favorite in our family. Only the Lovebird is steadfast in his loyalties to me.

Today, I worry incessantly about theft. I couldn't bear to lose any of them. They're all microchipped (and I swear as soon as GPS is available I am getting it to track them!); and we have a big, bad alarm system on the house especially for them (because insurance could never replace them). I worry too about bird germs. I'm terrified to go to a bird mart or show and bring home some germ to them (a friend lost her Grey shortly after bringing him a toy home from a bird mart). Lots to worry about when one has birds.

I worried about how much mess there was going to be and how big the poops were. And if they were going to poop all over my house.
