Questions about Kyro! (8 week old sun conure)

I have a couple questions to ask. Is it normal for the feeding schedule to be all over the place during weaning time?? i have lost any form of structure in feeding times with kyro because sometimes he'll eat 4cc and others he'll eat 12cc and depending on how much he eats is when ill feed him again! his feeding response seems to have calmed down ALOT! he used to go crazy and kinda scream while eating now he'll barely bob his head and most of the formula ends up on the towel.. i give him a variety of fruits, veggies and pellets before each feeding so he can eat as much as he wants then ill hand feed him the rest. So heres the problem with that, he'll sit there for a while and chew up the veggies and fruits and stuff and they seem to disappear but after ill go check his crop and its COMPLETELY empty?? where is it going?? does it digest that fast? he doesnt eat alot but he picks at various things one at a time.

My last question is when he sleeps on me he opens his mouth to breathe but only when he's alseep! when i wake him up he breathes normal again? i asked about it at the vet yesterday and she said all his respiratory system looks fine. she checked all his sinuses and listened to his lungs and she said he sounds perfectly fine? to try giving more humidity so i had him in the bathroom when i was in the shower for the humidity and after i got out he fell asleep on me and he started breathing like that again so that wasn't the problem...

O and he weighs 112 grams is that a good weight for a 8 week old? any opinions and knowledge is appreciated thanks

I always stayed on schedule for feeding my conure. If he didnt eat enough then he snooze he loses kinda thing lol. He knew were the food was and if he got hungry he could eat it. Its a part of the weaning process. I would think if you feed him everytime he ask's for it or is hungry he may depend on the formula too much and might take longer for him to fully wean. For the fruits and veggies, maybe he's doing what Charlie did at first. Charlie used to just chew the fruits and veggies to get the juice out of it and thats it. He would never eat any of it just drink the liquid. Maybe that why you dont feel anything in the crop?

The sleeping this where they open their mouth.. Is he looking upward and doing that? My Charlie used to do this everytime after a feeding. He would feel content and just fall asleep with his mouth open like that. Kyro's weight is good. Keep in mind though with weaning and him learning to fly, he may lose some weight. Which is completely normal.

BTW my Charlie just graduated off of the formula a few days ago. Sorry had to share, he is getting big so fast.

Hmm ok ill keep on track but its kinda hard to have his food and pellets available 24/7 because his cage is in my room i give him solid food before i hand feed him when he's hungry, and i spend most of the time in the livingroom so he's usually there with me should i move his cage to the livingroom? i dont have much room hence why its in my room but if it would be best for him i could figure it out lol

That makes sense i think he's just sucking the juice out lol how long did it take charlie to actually start eating it?

With his sleeping yes his head is kinda thrown back and his whole body moves with it thats why i was nervous about it, yes i am aware his weight will go down but i was just worried because i can feel his chest bone pretty easily.

Stressful is right! hahaha but fun at the same time. I used(and still do) small food and water containers to have around him when he playing or whatever he is doing out of the cage. So its always availale. I would just leave it out, like on the dinner table if im on the comp, on my bed if im watching tv, I used those little ones made for mice and hamsters lol. Once Charlie knew he could use his beak to lift them up, he once flipped them over cause he was made at me for being gone one morning for too long. He threw a tantrum because I wasnt there to let him out the same exact time I normally do everyday. Too funny! Charlie still only chews the juice out of fruits but loves sprouts and I know hes eating them.

My little sister stole the tiny salsa bowls they use at mexican restaraunts lol so i use those! there perfect size he just doesn't show any interst in drinking water yet.

Kyro throws a fit when i leave him somewhere lol if i leave him on the table while im making his food on the counter he'll get mad! he'll fly too me and grab on as tight as he can to my shirt and WILL NOT let go lol if i put him in his cage he'll run all over and try and bite threw the cage bars like he can or something haha! he also gets mad if i dont let him chew my lip ring. if i pull away, right when i go back he'll pinch my lip!! little booger so i put him on the floor for a minute or so and when i pick him back up he's happy and cuddly again he's a pain in the a** but i love him so much! i feel like i've had him forever but its only been a week! lol!

Aren't they just cranky at times!!! Haha gotta love'm. Charlie will listen when I'm scolding him but he'll get mad at me for doing it. Silly bird. Haha

Yes lol yes they are. i didn't let kyro sit on my shoulder just now to eat because he throws pieces of food everywhere and he got mad and decided he's punish me by not eating at all and try to throw the food over lol and then just wait and when i moved my hand out of the way he runs as fast as he can to get up lol he finally gave up and crawled under my arm and fell asleep
