Two sun conures - Olivia and Caillou
So my conures didn't even care switching from seed to pellets, it was like they didn't even notice. They ate their fruit this morning great as well. Tonight I went to give them veggies and they wanted absolutely nothing to do with it (just like my kids lol). Any suggestions on how to get them to start eating the veggies too? I have a feeling the pet store only gave them fruit and no veggies. I tried holding the big pieces of broccoli through the cage hoping that they would think it was a treat too and that didnt work, they just looked at me like I was nuts haha. The vegetables are frozen (thawed) that I am trying to give them. It had broccoli, carrots and cauliflower.

Thanks!

Try making a chop mix, it's a great way to introduce veggies and lots of other good foods. You can also make it in bulk and freeze it(I made about 3 months worth). I often add fresh things in with Rosie's chop mix. Birds are picky and it can take them a while to try something new, don't be let down if they don't like something right away.

Try fresh vegetables.

Try dicing them, shredding, julienne, chopping into large/small pieces, leaving whole, mixing with other foods, hanging from the cage bars, weaved through the cage bars, hidden in toys, on a kebab, etc.

What I found that works the best is making a mash diet... something that includes healthy grains, legumes, vegetables and some fruits. I find that the mixture of of colors is extremely beneficial and most birds take to this within two to three days. It's always a good idea to use different colored vegetables like red, yellow and green peppers, carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, chili peppers, corn, etc.

Also try sprouted seeds.

That's a great mix!

My first conure wanted nothing to do with vegetables so I put carrots, apple and kale through my juicer and offered him the juice and he loved it! I made big batches and froze it in ice cube trays so i could just though one ice cube at a time! It usually took about a week for him to get through one cube. I offered it first thing in the morning and also at night. I wasn't able to leave it out all day obviously because it would go bad.
